Packager

Huntsman is seeking a Packager supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, California. This position will report to the Logistics Supervisor Operations Advanced Materials.

JobScope

This role is responsible for the accurate packaging, labeling, verification, and preparation of specialty chemical products for customer shipment. Working as part of the Packaging team within Operations, the Packager plays a critical role in ensuring products are packaged safely, documented correctly, and delivered in accordance with customer, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Successful employees in this role demonstrate strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment. Employees also have the opportunity to progress through a structured qualification-based tier system that rewards skill development, demonstrated proficiency, and expanded responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality, and operating procedures

  • Utilize required PPE and follow safe material handling practices

  • Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready

  • Follow applicable packaging, transportation, and regulatory requirements, including DOT, IMDG, and IATA requirements

  • Safely handle chemicals, drums, containers, and materials in accordance with site procedures

Packaging Operations

  • Process, package, label, and prepare customer orders in accordance with approved work instructions and quality requirements

  • Complete final packaging and order-closeout activities accurately and on time

  • Follow packaging schedules and workflow priorities to support customer commitments

  • Access and print SDS and required shipping documentation

  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to support packaging activities

  • Store materials in designated locations in accordance with site procedures and product storage requirements

Quality & Documentation

  • Verify product identity, lot numbers, labels, quantities, and packaging requirements prior to shipment

  • Complete batch records, packaging documentation, shipping documentation, and other required records accurately

  • Support inventory accuracy through proper documentation, material tracking, and cycle count activities as assigned

  • Identify and communicate quality concerns, documentation discrepancies, or packaging issues promptly

Teamwork & Reliability

  • Work independently and collaboratively while following written and verbal instructions

  • Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Logistics, and other support functions

  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and production schedules

  • Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and workplace organization

Qualifications

You mustpossessthe below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to theminimumrequirements and are considered a plus factor inidentifyingtop candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Two or more years of experience in packaging, manufacturing, production, warehouse, or related industrial environments

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records

  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn operational systems and procedures

  • Ability and willingness to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; training will be provided as needed

  • Ability and willingness to work either first shift or second shift based on business needs

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, including weekend overtime and extensions of the regular work schedule

  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or other regulated industrial environments

  • Experience handling hazardous materials and regulated products

  • Experience using SAP, Workday, QT9, or similar business systems

  • Forklift experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Experience working with quality, shipping, or inventory documentation

  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, solvents, corrosives, and isocyanates while following established safety procedures

  • Use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective footwear, and respirators when required and qualified

  • This position may be assigned to first or second shift based on business needs and may require overtime, including weekends and schedule extensions.

  • The hourly rate for this position at the time of hire is $30.20 per hour. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday on either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

  • We consider a number of business-related factors when making individual compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training.

  • Step progression is available based on qualification, with a minimum of 12 months before an associate may qualify for progression.
