Job Description

Under the guidance of the Plant General Manager, the Outbound Manager will oversee outbound operations, plan office production, and act as a technical resource for the team. The Outbound Manager will review outbound waste streams and creates accurate loads for shipment and determines appropriate disposal method. Utilizing their strong leadership skills, the Outbound Manager will ensure their staff track all waste in compliance with Clean Earth’s policy and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The Outbound Manager will coordinate regularly with Plant management to ensure safe, proper, and consistent handling of all outbound waste.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions): The main duties and responsibilities.

Outbound

  • Ship treated waste to permanent storage facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage outbound shipping of treated waste, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
  • Maintain inventory in waste tracking system.
  • Manages Outbound Team to ensure daily production goals are met.
  • Provide [MD1] ad-hoc approvals to outbound disposal 3rd party facilities.

Inbound

  • Provide insights on waste receiving strategies and methods, offering recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide insights on lab testing strategies and methods, offering recommendations for improvement.

Waste Processing

  • Stay updated on changes in waste processing and treatment regulations and industry standards.

Plant Management

  • Provide expertise and recommendations for cost management improvement.
  • Review Weekly and Monthly Production summaries.
  • Keep informed about updates in supply management regulations and industry standards.
  • Direct, coach, and develop employees, ensuring they meet operational needs and compliance with company policies.
  • Implement safety protocols and compliance measures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence.
  • Stay updated on changes in cost management regulations and industry standards and provide recommendations for improvement.

Performs other related duties and/or project work as required or requested.

Work Environment

  • Required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
  • Willingness and ability to travel via automobile, commercial airline and other public transportation as needed 10% or less of the time.
  • Must be able to pass a DEA background check when relevant.
  • Must be willing and able to abide by Clean Earth’s Core Values and Code of Conduct.
Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills: 

Education: (BA or BS degree required or preferred)

  • High School Diploma required, B.S. in an environmental-related field preferred, or can demonstrate related equivalent work experience.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed and current, or ability to obtain.

Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive environmental/hazardous waste management experience working in an operations capacity in outbound waste or materials management.
  • Experience in the hazardous waste industry and general knowledge of RCRA and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as it relates to the transportation and processing of waste is preferred.
  • Understanding of waste profiling and tracking related to outbound load creation.

Facilities Management

  • Able to Implement and communicate continual improvement of productivity standards and team member safety in all phases of the operation.

Compliance and Safety

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to waste management preferred.
  • Understanding of safety, lockout/tagout, and compliance protocols preferred.

Analytical Skills

  • Ability to analyze, draw conclusions and develop actionable improvements from complex data.
  • Understanding of data science methodologies and tools.

Administrative Skills

  • Experience in administrative tasks and office management.
  • Attention to detail in work tasks and documentation.

Leadership

  • Ability to lead and work through others, demonstrates effective delegation skills.
  • Aware of change management methodologies and practices.
  • Experience in team building and collaboration.
  • Some experience with employee engagement strategies and practices.
