How You'll Add Value

The Operations Systems Manager leads the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of the systems, data, and processes that enable core business operations. They are accountable for dependable delivery and operational excellence across Azenta's operational systems. This role oversees a multidisciplinary team-including Business Analysts/Project Managers, UAT Specialists, and a Business Intelligence Developer-to ensure operational systems are stable, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals.

A key responsibility of this role is to champion Lean principles through our systems, embedding Standard Work into system functionality, enabling structured problem solving through data, and leading waste reduction practices across all systems and operational workflows.

What You'll Do

Systems Leadership & Strategy

  • Own the roadmap for operational systems, tools, and workflows, ensuring alignment with business priorities and Lean operating principles.
  • Lead system governance, change management, and release planning across all supported platforms.
  • Partner with IT, Operations, and business leaders to identify opportunities for automation, process optimization, and digital transformation.
  • Lead interactions with internal customers that utilize our systems to ensure balance between break-fix priority and enhancement activities.

Business Analysis & Project Delivery

  • Oversee requirements gathering, process mapping, solution design, and documentation for system enhancements.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with operational and Lean efficiency goals.
  • Drive crossfunctional alignment and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Oversight

  • Lead planning, execution, and validation of UAT for all system changes.
  • Ensure testing rigor, traceability, and documentation to maintain system quality and compliance.

Data & Business Intelligence

  • Oversee the development of dashboards, reports, and analytics that support operational decisionmaking.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs and deliver actionable insights that support Lean performance management.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and system pain points; lead initiatives to streamline workflows and improve user experience.
  • Apply Lean tools such as valuestream mapping, rootcause analysis, and Standard Work to drive sustainable improvements.
  • Ensure systems and processes scale effectively as the business grows.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Operations Management, or related field required.
  • Master's degree or relevant certifications (Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, CBAP) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations systems or business analysis
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing technical or analytical teams.
  • 3+ years experience with project management; VPM experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean principles to improve processes and system workflows, preferred.
  • Proven success leading crossfunctional system implementations or enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of operational workflows, system integrations, and data structures.
  • Excellent project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency with ERP, CRM, workflow tools, and BI platforms.

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching, Lifting, Bending.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of standing or sitting.
  • Right- and left-hand finger dexterity.
  • Ability to discern colors or use of color correction glasses.
  • Ability to work with refrigerants (e.g., dry ice and LNs) using proper PPE.

Your Working Conditions:

  • Employee will be working in an area with potentially infectious materials.
  • Employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment for enforcing and following universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.

United States Base Compensation: $96,000.00 - $120,000.00

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure.
