Job description

A well-established national law firm is seeking an experienced Office Administrator to oversee the day-to-day administration of its Atlanta office. This role will have a strong Human Resources focus, partnering closely with firm leadership and the HR team on employee relations, performance management, staffing, policies, and employee engagement, while also overseeing general office operations.

This is a full-time, exempt position based primarily onsite in Midtown Atlanta. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources and may eventually support additional office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day administration and operations of the Atlanta office, supporting attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff.
  • Serve as a key HR resource for the office, partnering with firm leadership on employee relations, performance concerns, coaching, evaluations, and organizational changes.
  • Manage and support legal assistants, paralegals, and office services personnel, including workflow, coverage, staffing levels, and performance.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, ensuring a smooth experience and appropriate coordination across departments.
  • Support implementation and compliance with firm policies, procedures, and HR best practices.
  • Maintain and update staff policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Partner with leadership to promote employee engagement, retention, and a collaborative, high-performing workplace culture.
  • Coordinate employee leave matters in partnership with Benefits.
  • Collaborate with Payroll on employee timesheets and overtime approvals.
  • Review office expenses and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Oversee office facilities, space utilization, internal moves, vendors, and service providers.
  • Partner with building management and internal resources to address facility needs and maintain a professional, safe, and functional office environment.
  • Handle additional administrative, HR, and operational projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 4+ years of law firm administration and Human Resources experience required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with employee relations, performance management, HR policies and procedures, onboarding/offboarding, and staff supervision.
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a law firm strongly preferred.
  • Strong judgment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters with discretion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, and firm leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable balancing HR responsibilities with broader office administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel to other firm offices as needed and occasionally be available outside regular business hours for urgent matters.
