Full job description
AIMES Homes, Inc. is an organization that provides a variety of residential and support services for people of all ages with mild to profound disabilities. If you have a passion for caring for people and enjoy a work environment where no two days are alike, we have an exciting opportunity. Aimes Homes, Inc. is looking for Direct Support Professional's to help care for and make a difference in the lives of the people that we care for and serve.
Minimum Qualifications for Direct Support Professional:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED);
  • Possess valid California Drivers License, Valid insurance coverage;
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak clearly and concisely;
  • 1 Year previous caring for persons with disability
  • Ability to document and follow instructions of client care
  • Vehicle in good working condition at disposal during work shifts;
  • * Pass a background check, fingerprints and a criminal records check;
  • * Evidence of a TB test (negative) within the last year;
  • * Pass random drug screening.
  • * Pass Medical and Ergonomic Pre-screen

* Provided by employer upon acceptance of conditional employment offer.
General Duties and Responsibilities for DSP:
  • Supervise consumers who have behavioral, emotional, forensic, and developmental disabilities;
  • Implement the consumers' objectives and behavior plans specified in the IPP;
  • Supervise the consumers on all tasks, training and community integration activities;
  • Assist consumers with personal care needs (ADLS) as necessary to maintain hygiene;
  • Report all incidents and occurrences to the House Manager and Administrator, including all incidents of possible abuse or neglect;
  • Maintain and enforce the conditions which are necessary for the residential program to operate: upholding the health and safety of residents, colleagues and the public; being responsible to see that neatness and cleanliness are maintained;
  • Provide transportation for consumers, as required, using company vehicles and personal vehicles;
  • Present self appropriately and as a role model for consumers and other support staff at home and in the community;
  • Attend all required monthly in-service training's;
  • Facilitate communication, both verbal and written, of necessary matters which are essential for staff reporting for the oncoming shift to know;
  • Complete all charting daily to ensure that consumers' data is up to date;
  • Follow activities schedule, keep consumers active and always give them a choice;
  • Know and follow emergency plan and procedures, and follow them to ensure safety to the consumers.
