Direct Support Professional - PRN - Immediate positions available - Memphis, TN Area $15.68 an hour

The primary purpose of the Direct Support Professional is to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who need support to lead a safe, self-directed life to participate fully in their communities.

To assist individuals with intellectual disabilities (mild to severe) in leading a self-directed life and contribute to the community. To aid in assisting with activities of daily living if needed, and encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you, will provide support at home, work, and other community places.

Direct Support Professional Skills:

The job of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a very significant one. It is important to have compassion, creativity, and integrity when supporting our individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A DSP will assist a person, with developmental disabilities, to have a meaningful, safe and self-directed life, skills are needed which include the following but are not limited to:

  • provide quality care of individuals in their home
  • ensure supports and services are person-centered
  • provide breakfast | lunch | dinner dietary options for individuals daily
  • promote physical health and emotional well-being
  • provide responsible and accountable financial management
  • maintain confidentiality
  • drive individual to doctor's appointments, school, work, and community based activities
  • support individual to form new relationships
  • maintain existing relationships
  • document daily reports electronically
