The
Universal PRN Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides high-quality, individualized support to people across multiple homes and locations on an as-needed basis. Unlike traditional DSP roles, the Universal PRN DSP is not assigned to a single location but may be scheduled to work at any KenCrest site within their region, depending on agency needs. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to respond to short-notice shift requests while maintaining consistency in care and support.
The Universal PRN DSP ensures the health, safety, and well-being of individuals supported, providing assistance with daily living activities, personal care, household management, community integration, and social skill development. This role empowers individuals to make informed choices, develop independence, and pursue their life goals while maintaining a safe, supportive, and person-centered environment. The Universal PRN DSP must maintain all required certifications, trainings, and competencies to meet both state licensing requirements and KenCrest standards of care.
Essential Responsibilities:Leadership & Daily Support- Assist individuals with household management, including meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and general chores, while promoting participation to foster independence.
- Provide well-balanced, nutritious meals according to individual diet plans or feeding protocols.
- Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, and other self-care needs as required.
- Support individuals in developing self-help, social, and community integration skills.
- Encourage informed decision-making, trying new experiences, relationship-building, and self-advocacy.
- Work at various homes as scheduled, maintaining flexibility to meet staffing needs.
Communication & Documentation- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, medical records, and behavioral data.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with individuals supported, families, co-workers, and external stakeholders (doctors, nurses, support coordinators).
- Follow established procedures for vehicle and household maintenance.
- Use the Humanity scheduling system to view schedules, accept shifts, and respond to messages.
- Respond to communications from the Scheduling Manager/Coordinator within 72 hours and participate in meetings or check-ins as requested.
Collaboration, Flexibility & Transportation- Administer medications and follow medical or behavioral protocols accurately.
- Implement individual outcomes from assessments and ISPs, recording data as required.
- Transport individuals to appointments, programs, and community activities safely, following vehicle policies and individual safety protocols.
- Work at least four (4) shifts per month to maintain active PRN status; communicate availability with the Scheduling Manager/Coordinator.
- Maintain reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record.
- Follow directions from site supervisors while on shift.
Training & Certification- Complete and maintain required trainings, including but not limited to:
- CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration
- ODP/CBS, CPS Documentation, Person-Centered Training
- G/J Tube, Insulin, and Hoyer Lift training
- Barrier-Free, Lift/Transfer, Individual/House Review
- Maintain up-to-date RELIAS training to meet licensing and audit requirements.
- Attend site-specific overviews or additional trainings as needed to support job duties.
Professional Conduct, Safety & Compliance- Act immediately and appropriately in emergencies, including administering CPR/First Aid or contacting emergency services.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for individuals supported and co-workers.
- Follow all KenCrest policies, procedures, safety protocols, and professional standards, including documentation and confidentiality.
- Overtime is not allowed unless pre-approved for emergencies.
- Remain active and compliant with training and scheduling expectations to retain PRN status.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
- Clear criminal background, drug test, and other state-mandated checks
- Ability to understand and follow written and spoken instructions in English
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

- Schedule flexibility required, including potential overtime or shift extensions
