What is a PRN DSP?

A PRN DSP, or 'as needed' Direct Support Professional, is a caregiver who works on a flexible, on-call basis to support individuals with disabilities or special needs. They assist with daily living activities, community involvement, and personal care, filling in shifts when regular staff are unavailable. PRN DSPs help ensure continuity of care and may work in group homes, day programs, or clients’ residences. This role requires adaptability, compassion, and strong communication skills.

What are some common challenges faced by PRN DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) and how can they be managed effectively?

PRN DSPs often face the challenge of adapting quickly to new environments and individuals due to their as-needed, flexible schedules. They may work with different clients or in various group homes, which requires strong communication and adaptability skills. To manage these challenges, it’s helpful to familiarize yourself with each site’s protocols, build rapport quickly with both clients and team members, and maintain a proactive approach to learning. Time management and self-motivation are also key, as PRN roles often require independent problem-solving.

Hey there!

Are you someone with a big heart and a passion for making a real difference in people's lives? Do you believe that everyone deserves a life full of love, care, and support? If so, we want you to join our little family at Lasting Impressions! Lasting Impressions is seeking compassionate and dependable PRN Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team! As a PRN DSP, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in living independently and achieving their personal goals.

We're a close-knit team that believes in creating a warm, welcoming environment for our residents. Our mission is to provide individualized supportive living that feels just like home. We're not about fancy titles or corporate jargon - we're about kindness, compassion, and making every day special for those we care for.

We are primarily in need of evening and weekend PRNs but encourage all to apply.

What We're Looking For:

PRN Direct Support Professional

  • Heartfelt Caregiver: You genuinely care about people and want to see them thrive.
  • Patient Listener: You understand the importance of listening and providing emotional support.
  • Positive Attitude: You bring a smile to work every day and spread positivity.
  • Team Player: You're ready to roll up your sleeves and help out wherever needed.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Building Relationships: Spend quality time with our residents, getting to know them and their unique stories.
  • Personal Care: Assist with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and grooming - always with dignity and respect
  • Supportive Presence: Be there for emotional support, whether it's sharing a laugh or offering a comforting hug.
  • Encouraging Independence: Help residents with their goals, big or small, and celebrate their achievements. This includes daily living activities such as personal care, household chores, and cooking.
  • Creating Joy: Plan and participate in fun activities that bring joy and excitement to our home.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of services provided to ensure all team members are up to date on care given.

Why You'll Love It Here:

  • Family Atmosphere: We're not just a workplace; we're a family. You'll feel at home from day one.
  • Meaningful Work: Every day, you'll make a real difference in someone's life.
  • Supportive Environment: We're here to support you just as much as you support our residents.
  • Growth Opportunities: We're always looking to help our team members grow and develop their skills.
  • After 90 days, all Lasting Impression MO LLC staff are eligible for a 401(k) plan with company matching!

Minimum Requirements:

  • A heart full of compassion and kindness
  • A desire to make a difference
  • Experience is great, but we believe in potential and the power of a positive attitude
  • Must be 18 years of age or older, have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to successfully pass a background check, and have a driver's license and reliable transportation with insurance. This position requires the transportation of clients.
  • Must be able to pick up hours on short notice
  • Availability for evening and/or weekend shifts
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in direct care, healthcare, or a related field is a plus but not required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of others

If this sounds like you, we would love to meet you! Join us at Lasting Impressions and help us create a loving, supportive home for our residents.
