Job description

The Instructional Design position is responsible for supporting faculty to design, develop, implement, and evaluation face-to-face, online, distance, and professional development courses with appropriate instructional technology and design strategy. This role will be expected to collaborate with the team to promote technology development opportunities and advance effective technology integration paired with innovative teaching that optimizes students learning engagement and retention. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Master's degree in instructional system, instructional design, instructional technology, distance learning/education, multimedia development, or equivalent combination of education and closely relevant experience.

Experience and Training

  • Experience in working with faculty in instructional design and technology-relevant projects

  • Experience in designing and developing face-to-face, online, distance, and virtual learning

  • Extensive experience with learning management system (Blackboard preferred)

  • Experience in supporting a variety of educational technology

  • Experience in facilitating workshop/seminar and presenting professionally

  • Extensive experience with multimedia design/development, graphic design, video/audio production, and animation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Instructional Design

  • Develops assessment to identify the needs of faculty and design customized instructional plan to promote desired teaching and learning experience.

  • Analyze requests or challenges from faculty pertaining to their teaching and provide professional advices on strategy or solution.

  • Collaborates with faculty to determine appropriate instructional methods and technology that meet the specific needs.

  • Assists faculty in the effective utilization of instructional applications, multimedia technologies, web-based resources and formulate recommendations.

  • Utilizes research, experience, best practice to deliver instructional design service effectively in all phases of development and implementation for face-to-face, online, and distance learning.

  • Develops and delivers workshops on the topics of instructional design, instructional technology, best practices, and other related areas.

  • Delivers technology integration opportunities in one-on-one consultation, workshops, and online instructional resource.

  • Explores and analyzes emerging instructional concepts and technologies and make appropriate recommendation for improvement.

Project Management

  • Prioritizes allocation of time and resources in accordance with defined priorities.

  • Establishes working partnerships with university faculty and staff to understand instructional needs that enhances and optimizes learning effectiveness.

  • Provides faculty with personalized instructional and technical consultation and support.

  • Coordinates and delivers professional workshop or programs to ensure technology integration success.

  • Utilizes project planning, assessment instruments, participant evaluation, follow-up education, and other appropriate procedures to ensure achievement of defined learning goals/objectives.

  • Collaborates with team members, project teams, and institutional teams in project planning and execution phases to account for a wide range of instructional resources, projects, and activities.

  • Presents proficient level of analytical thinking and problem solving to manage designated projects.

  • Ensures development and evaluation process to be well-organized and documented.

Technical Expertise

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365

  • Extensive knowledge and skills of current and emerging educational technologies, instructional system design, and course design software.

  • Extensive knowledge and editing skills of multimedia including graphics, video, audio, and animation.

  • Extensive experience designing courses (F2F, online, distance) through learning theories, design modules, retention strategies, best practice, and learning management system.
