Job description

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is searching for a Lead Modeler in our Memphis, TN, Dallas, TX or Ft. Worth, TX office. The Lead Modeler is responsible for assisting the Modeling Manager with the development of the Modelers and Checkers on the team as well as support the Modeling Manager by completing tasks that are the responsibility of the Modeling Team.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Prepare all models and fabrication drawings of tubular steel utility structures and related hardware using SolidWorks.
  • Solve problems individually and for team members
  • Mentor and develop the team's modelers and checkers
  • Review all modeling cards
  • Ensure job logs assigned to the team are addressed in a timely manner
  • Review all approval check and fabrication check packages and provide feedback to the modelers and checkers
  • Review the file naming and folder structure within the modeling folder on Meyer Utility Structures' documents
  • Review and approve all DMCNs; ensuring they're necessary, coded correctly and initiate any additional necessary communication to the engineer, project manager or plant
  • Review late drawings and code them correctly per the Meyer late drawing reason codes
  • Lead modeling/checking pod meetings
  • Participate in MeyerWorks daily scrum and backlog grooming meetings
  • Participate in weekly modeling training topics meeting
  • Provide scheduling support to ensure an optimized modeling and checking schedule
  • Perform a monthly review of Job Log Responsiveness
  • Co-Lead the team's monthly DMCN review meeting
  • Assist the modeling manager in the development of the monthly metrics
  • Co-lead monthly account meetings to review DMCNs, RFIs, Job Logs, etc.
  • Perform disaster recovery testing
  • Perform SolidWorks upgrade testing
  • Attend a minimum of one trip to a plant, conference or make a customer visit annually
  • Assist with the hiring and training process for new modelers and checkers

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minumum of seven (7) years relevant experience
  • Ability to acquire job skills and learn policies and procedures to complete routine tasks
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of 3D parametric modeling software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of drafting standards (dimensions, units of measurement, etc.)
  • Ability to pass the Meyer SolidWorks drafting test
  • Leadership skills
