What is a mobility specialist?

A Mobility Specialist is a professional who helps individuals improve their ability to move safely and independently, often focusing on people with disabilities or those recovering from injuries. They assess clients’ needs and develop personalized plans that may include training in the use of mobility aids, teaching safe movement techniques, and recommending adaptive equipment. Mobility Specialists often work in healthcare, rehabilitation, or educational settings, collaborating with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other care providers to enhance their clients’ quality of life.

How does a mobility specialist typically collaborate with other departments to support employee relocations?

A Mobility Specialist works closely with HR, payroll, legal, and sometimes facilities teams to ensure smooth employee relocations, whether domestic or international. Their responsibilities often include coordinating visa and immigration processes, managing relocation benefits, and communicating policy details to employees and managers. Regular meetings and cross-departmental updates are common, as alignment is essential to address compliance, budgeting, and employee support needs. This collaborative environment helps ensure that all aspects of an employee’s move are handled efficiently and in accordance with company guidelines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mobility specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Mobility Specialist, you need expertise in assessing mobility needs, knowledge of assistive devices, and often a relevant degree or certification in physical therapy or occupational therapy. Familiarity with mobility assessment tools, adaptive equipment, and patient management systems is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication help you collaborate with clients and healthcare teams effectively. These skills ensure clients receive tailored mobility solutions that enhance independence and quality of life.

Job description

Program Description: Customer requires enterprise architecture, assessment, modernization, integration, and project management support for IT Enterprise and large-scale programs.

The initiative will evaluate whether current enterprise services can securely and reliably support large-scale development, testing, performance, scalability, failover, and production operations. The work includes assessments of enterprise technology capabilities, including the ServiceNow platform, enterprise network architecture, Microsoft Intune mobility environment, and the integration of enterprise applications with external vendor mobile devices and supporting systems.

Position Description: The Mobility Architect serves as the enterprise architect responsible for defining the strategy, architecture, governance, and long-term evolution of the organization's mobility, endpoint management, and digital workplace capabilities. The role assesses current-state environments, evaluates enterprise requirements, develops future-state architectures, and establishes the governance frameworks, operating models, standards, and roadmaps necessary to support enterprise modernization objectives.

The Mobility Architect works in close partnership with the Microsoft Intune SME and other technology stakeholders to assess platform capabilities, evaluate technology alternatives, define strategic direction, and determine whether current and emerging endpoint management solutions can support long-term mission, operational, security, scalability, and performance requirements. The role provides strategic guidance on technology selection, architecture direction, governance, integration patterns, Zero Trust alignment, and enterprise modernization roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct enterprise mobility current-state assessments to evaluate capabilities, operating models, governance structures, technology investments, organizational readiness, risks, and modernization opportunities.
  • Develop enterprise mobility, endpoint management, and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) strategies aligned to organizational objectives, mission requirements, and future technology needs.
  • Partner with the Microsoft Intune SME to evaluate platform capabilities, implementation approaches, operating models, technology alternatives, and future-state roadmap options.
  • Evaluate enterprise endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Intune and competing endpoint management technologies, to determine alignment with mission requirements, scalability objectives, operational needs, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Assess platform direction, vendor roadmaps, industry trends, emerging technologies, and market capabilities to support investment planning and technology modernization decisions.
  • Develop decision frameworks and recommendations regarding platform adoption, expansion, replacement, consolidation, or modernization initiatives.
  • Define target-state mobility architectures, operating models, governance frameworks, standards, and modernization roadmaps.
  • Lead architecture modeling, technology evaluations, trade studies, alternatives analyses, and future-state architecture planning activities.
  • Define enterprise mobility architecture patterns, reference architectures, standards, and design principles supporting scalability, security, resiliency, and interoperability.
  • Develop enterprise identity integration and Zero Trust strategies supporting workforce mobility, secure access, endpoint trust, and risk-based access controls.
  • Evaluate enterprise requirements for endpoint management, mobility services, application delivery, digital workplace services, and remote workforce capabilities.
  • Define enterprise integration strategies across mobility services, identity platforms, cybersecurity capabilities, cloud services, collaboration platforms, service management platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Assess emerging technologies, industry direction, market trends, and vendor capabilities and provide recommendations regarding future technology investments and roadmap decisions.
  • Identify architectural risks, technology constraints, security concerns, integration challenges, operational dependencies, and modernization opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, executive recommendations, investment priorities, implementation roadmaps, and transition strategies supporting enterprise modernization objectives.
  • Support architecture review boards, technical governance boards, engineering review activities, and strategic planning efforts.
  • Develop architecture artifacts, standards, reference models, roadmaps, executive briefings, and governance documentation supporting enterprise adoption and long-term sustainability.

Requirements

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, mobility architecture, endpoint architecture, infrastructure architecture, or enterprise technology modernization.
  • Experience developing enterprise mobility, endpoint management, EMM, UEM, or digital workplace strategies.
  • Experience conducting current-state assessments, future-state architecture development, modernization planning, and enterprise technology roadmap development.
  • Experience evaluating technology alternatives, conducting trade studies, developing business cases, and supporting executive-level decision making.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture principles, architecture governance, architecture standards development, and strategic technology planning.
  • Experience defining engagement models, governance structures, operating models, and organizational transformation approaches.
  • Experience with identity architecture, Zero Trust architecture, cybersecurity integration, and enterprise platform integration.
  • Experience assessing scalability, sustainability, operational readiness, business alignment, and long-term technology viability.
  • Ability to identify strategic risks, assess impacts, evaluate alternatives, and develop long-range recommendations.
  • Strong architecture modeling, facilitation, executive communication, workshop leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, assessing, governing, or modernizing enterprise endpoint management environments utilizing Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Defender, or comparable enterprise endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise endpoint management environments supporting 50,000 or more managed endpoints or similarly large-scale enterprise deployments.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Intune architecture, endpoint management operating models, identity integration, compliance management, application delivery, endpoint security, and Zero Trust capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating enterprise endpoint management platforms and developing platform recommendations, technology alternatives analyses, migration strategies, and modernization roadmaps.
