Position Overview
The Merchandising Team Leader supports store leadership to maximize inventory accuracy. This hands-on leadership role leads by example while assisting with product receiving, stocking, merchandising, inventory control, and maintaining a clean, organized, and guest-ready sales floor. The Merchandising Team Lead supports and coaches team members, promotes exceptional guest service, and assists the General Manager in achieving operational goals.
This position requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, rotating weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight support.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership amp; Operations
  • Work alongside the General Manager to support daily merchandising and inventory operations.
  • Lead by example while helping prioritize daily work assignments.
  • Support the General Manager by coaching, training, and assisting team members with merchandising, stocking, and receiving procedures.
  • Encourage teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service.
  • Assist with store projects and operational priorities.
  • Provide support to other departments as business needs require.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Merchandising amp; Inventory
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, organizing, stocking, and replenishing merchandise throughout the store.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory through replenishment, ordering, inventory counts, and company inventory systems, including PDI.
  • Monitor inventory levels to reduce out-of-stocks and prevent excess inventory.
  • Assist with vendor deliveries, product returns, and vendor credits.
  • Execute merchandising plans, promotional displays, pricing updates, seasonal sets, and planogram changes.
  • Ensure shelves, coolers, displays, and stockrooms remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Merchandise products in an attractive manner that maximizes sales and enhances the guest experience.
Sales Floor amp; Guest Service
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready sales floor.
  • Restock shelves, coolers, endcaps, and promotional displays throughout the day.
  • Assist with sales floor resets, display assembly, and fixture changes.
  • Inspect damaged or returned merchandise and follow company procedures.
  • Follow inventory protection and loss prevention practices.
  • Deliver friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable service to every guest.
  • Assist guests in locating merchandise and answering product questions.
  • Maintain Coffee Cup's high standards for hospitality and store presentation.
Safety amp; Operational Excellence
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and other material handling equipment.
  • Properly handle cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Keep receiving areas, stockrooms, and workspaces clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
  • Work cooperatively with all departments to support travel plaza operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail, merchandising, inventory, warehouse, customer service, or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company inventory systems, including PDI.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous shift lead or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in convenience store, grocery, retail, warehouse, or inventory operations.
  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and inventory control practices.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and climb ladders throughout the workday.
  • Receive, unload, and stock merchandise, including coolers and storage areas.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
  • Work in refrigerated storage areas and various weather conditions during deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, vendors, and team members.
