Job description

Legal Secretary – Medical Malpractice

Location: Cleveland, OH
Schedule: Hybrid
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000

A respected civil defense firm in Cleveland is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support its Medical Malpractice practice group. This role requires strong litigation support skills and hands‐on experience working with medical records and healthcare‐related case materials.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys handling medical malpractice and civil litigation matters
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence
  • Conduct medical record research, organize and summarize medical documentation
  • Manage attorney calendars, depositions, expert meetings, and client communications
  • Assist with trial prep, including exhibits and case binders
  • Handle electronic filing in state and federal courts
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper case files
  • Provide billing and administrative support as needed

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of legal secretary or legal assistant experience in medical malpractice or litigation
  • Strong knowledge of medical records, terminology, and litigation workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management systems
  • Excellent proofreading, formatting, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and support several attorneys
  • Professional communication and client‐service mindset
