Job description

The Butcher/Meat Cutter/Meat Trimmer plays a crucial role in preparing high-quality meat products by efficiently removing unwanted materials and portioning meat into various cuts. Working in a small team and reporting to the Production Manager, this role involves using a combination of cutting tools to ensure meat is cleaned, trimmed, and prepared according to safety and quality standards during night and daily shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Remove excess fat from meat
  • Trim away connective tissue, cartilage, and silver skin
  • Cut off bruised or damaged sections
  • Separate meat from bones as required
  • Portion meat into steaks, chops, roasts, or other finished cuts
  • Use knives and other hand tools safely and efficiently
  • Maintain sanitation and hygiene standards
  • Inspect meat quality and ensure safety compliance
