Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced meat cutter/butcher assistant to join the team at our successful store. As a member of our team you will be responsible for operating the meat department to the high standards set forth by our brand. You will trim and prepare standard cuts of meat as specified in-store guidelines and follow the stores meat merchandising plan. The Meat Cutters goal is to drive sales within the meat department and maximize profitability.
Responsibilities
  • Cut and trim meat using knives and power equipment
  • Package and display meat in an attractive manner
  • Order inventory and maintain appropriate levels of stock
  • Update active inventory and point of sales
  • Rotate product accordingly
  • Receive and inspect meat as it arrives to the store
  • Ensure the cold chain is unbroken and meat remains high quality
  • Follow high standards of sanitation and quality control
  • Work effectively with kitchen and deli teams to actively maintain daily service
  • Proficient in meat marketing and meat cuts to effectively communicate with customers needs and requirements
  • Learn to efficiently prep cases with proper merchandise
  • Knowledgable in gourmet food products
  • Willing process live animals when whole butchery is required
  • Proficient (or willing to learn) in whole break downs of animals processed in house
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Experience using meat cutting equipment, power equipment, and hand tools
  • Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift 60-80 lbs safely
