Xylem is hiring a Market Development Manager-Northeast!

The Market Development Manager (MDM) is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market penetration of Xylem Goulds Water Technology products within the Northeast region. Working closely with regional sales leadership, distributors, representatives, design engineers, OEMs, dealers, and end users, the MDM develops and executes growth strategies across municipal, industrial, residential, and agricultural markets. This role combines business development, channel partner management, and technical expertise to increase sales of pumps, motors, and monitoring and control solutions while providing valuable market intelligence and customer insights to support product development, marketing initiatives, and new product launches. Ultimately, the MDM plays a key role in advancing Xylem's mission of solving the world's most critical water challenges and supporting the company's vision of "Solving Water."


Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop a business plan with each significant Channel Partner to include sales goals, identify target accounts, perspective OEMs, and focus on sales growth in their Major Trade Area.
  • Work with Channel Partners to increase Sales & Market Share of products in territory and region.
  • Open new or remove existing Channel Partners where and when necessary.
  • Travel with Channel Partner personnel in order to train and focus them on growth of Xylem Product Sales along with strengthening relationships and loyalty
  • Maintain Large Project funnel with coordination and updates to and from channels.
  • Assist Marketing in defining new Markets and Product Opportunities.
  • Assist Channel Partners in selecting the right products for the total solution utilizing computer sizing and selection programs as required.
  • Keep Management advised of competitors' activities in Territory / Region.
  • Make prospecting calls to end customers, residential dealers, distribution channel partners, OEMs and Design Engineering firms according to the Master Sales Plan.
  • Attend appropriate trade shows and related events to expand market knowledge of products and trends within the industry.

  • Internal: Direct Management, Sales Teams within your brand, Sales Teams in other Xylem Divisions, Customer Service, Product Management, and Marketing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree or Preferred B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or the Sciences
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Field Technical Sales experience
  • Channel Management Experience Required
  • Good communication, organization skills
  • Thorough knowledge of consultative/value based selling.
  • Leadership Managerial Competencies
  • Computer and business software savvy (Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Salesforce)
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Superior Oral & Written Communication

Preferred Qualifications: Top Candidate

Outside Sales Experience that has included travel and technical sales within the Pump Industry, particularly in the Industrial and/or Municipal markets.


Physical Demands

  • Light lifting, office environment
  • Must occasionally lift/ transport up to twenty-five pounds, especially during Tradeshow booth set up and product demonstrations.

Work Environment

  • In Home Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • While Traveling: Potential for long hours of sitting while traveling in company supplied vehicle or during Air Travel where required depending on U.S Sales Territory.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40+

Travel requirement:

  • Travel as required but typically 50%
  • Overnights are a requirement and frequency depends on the Geography of the Sales Territory.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
