Job Description

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations for the Carson City facility. This facility operates in a fast-paced, high-volume, and high-mix manufacturing environment. The manager must ensure the achievement of production requirements, quality and reliability standards, and on-time delivery at the lowest cost. These objectives will be achieved by collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, and Information Systems, and by motivating the production workforce. The role is responsible for delivering results through Lean Manufacturing techniques, 6S, TOC, Six Sigma, and problem-solving.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for safely manufacturing a quality product while meeting customer specifications and delivery commitments.
  • Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
  • Formulate long- and short-range strategies for continuous improvements across all plant manufacturing functions.
  • Control quality, delivery, cost of production, work-in-process levels, and monitor production through planning.
  • Recommend and purchase new equipment for expansion, efficiency, cost reductions, and quality improvement.
  • Provide input on the design and installation of equipment for new manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure EHS rules are always followed by every employee in the departments.
  • Manage operational metrics, including TOC, variable cost, and productivity targets on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Lead plant teams, including hiring, performance evaluations, and talent development.
  • Maintain and enhance a team environment and motivate the production workforce.
  • Establish and execute annual operating budgets for departments and meet the budget.
  • Oversee manufacturing plans and maintain production schedules.
  • Control costs of manufacturing, work-in-process inventory, and throughput.
  • Oversee allocation of material, manpower, and equipment resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, relentlessly execute, and deliver results in conformance with action plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations and priorities easily.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Industrial, Mechanical, or a related engineering field, or 10+ years experience in manufacturing setting.
  • MS or MBA degree is desirable.
  • Prefer 7+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Extensive training in manufacturing processes.
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma Certification.
