Manager Service Virtualization information

What is a Manager Service Virtualization?

A Manager Service Virtualization oversees the implementation and management of service virtualization tools and processes within an organization. Service virtualization is the practice of simulating the behavior of components in complex applications, enabling teams to test and develop software even when certain parts are unavailable or incomplete. The manager leads teams that design, deploy, and maintain these virtual services, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery. They also coordinate with other IT and business units to optimize development workflows and reduce bottlenecks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Manager Service Virtualization, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Manager Service Virtualization, you need expertise in service virtualization concepts, strong project management abilities, and a background in software development or IT, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with tools like CA Service Virtualization, Parasoft Virtualize, or IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server, and certifications in service virtualization or DevOps practices are typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you manage teams and collaborate across departments effectively. These skills ensure successful implementation of virtualization solutions, streamlined testing processes, and the delivery of high-quality software products.

How does a Manager Service Virtualization typically collaborate with development and QA teams to streamline testing processes?

A Manager Service Virtualization works closely with both development and QA teams to implement and optimize virtual services that simulate dependent systems. This enables teams to test applications earlier and more thoroughly, even when some components are unavailable or unstable. The manager often facilitates communication between teams, ensures that virtual assets are maintained and updated, and helps integrate service virtualization tools into the CI/CD pipeline. Effective collaboration reduces bottlenecks, accelerates release cycles, and improves software quality.

What is the difference between Manager Service Virtualization vs Service Virtualization Engineer?

Job description

Our client is migrating from VMware to Nutanix and is looking for a strong Virtualization Engineer to help drive that effort while building hands-on Nutanix skills along the way. This role will own core on-prem Windows infrastructure (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, certificates/PKI, and file services) and is a great fit for a current VMware Engineer with high aptitude who wants to grow into Nutanix as the migration gets underway.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and support the existing VMware environment (vSphere/ESXi/vCenter) while helping execute the migration to Nutanix.
  • Build and apply hands-on Nutanix AHV/HCI skills through the migration including cluster operations, lifecycle activities, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide senior-level technical leadership, guidance, and escalation support to a distributed team of offshore operational support engineers.
  • Provide engineering support for Microsoft Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Group Policy, and DNS (Microsoft DNS and Cloudflare).
  • Manage internal and external PKI certificates including issuance, renewals, validation, and remediation of expirations.
  • Administer file servers and permissions (NTFS/share permissions, security group design, least-privilege models).
  • Partner with infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to plan and deliver changes and document operational procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience with a strong hands-on VMware/virtualization background (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
  • High aptitude, drive, and a genuine interest in learning and developing skills on the Nutanix platform.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (Domain Services, DCs, Group Policy, DNS integration, troubleshooting).
  • Experience managing internal and public certificates (PKI, TLS, certificate chains, renewals).
  • Experience administering file servers and permissions.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated clear communication during incidents and planned changes.

Preferred

  • Any exposure to Nutanix or prior virtualization platform migrations.
  • Backup, replication, and disaster recovery experience (Rubrik a plus).
  • Microsoft 365 Administration experience (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive).

This is a 12-month Contract opportunity with extensions with our Overland Park, KS client. Employee benefits include Medical/Dental Benefits, Paid time off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k) (with immediately-vested company match) available with TriCom during the contract period. H1-B Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No third-parties, please.
