Position Summary
The Manager, Product Development will support the innovation and development of luxe, sustainable, and ethically sourced cosmetics. This role will work closely with a team of talented professionals to bring new products to life, while ensuring products are aligned with brand and founder ethos
Responsibilities:
  • Support Director & VP in overseeing the product development lifecycle - tracking key deliverables and timelines to ensure on-time delivery of new product launches.
  • Manage all internal trackers and documents, ensuring information is updated consistently and in a timely manner (i.e. shade names, formula numbers, product profiles, preliminary ILs etc.)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, packaging, and operations to ensure seamless execution and communication from concept to commercialization.
  • Communicate with suppliers to coordinate all necessary samples throughout the development process, ensuring seamless support to all teams in the early stages of new product launches.
  • Assist in Identifying opportunities for innovation and growth within the clean beauty space by conducting competitive research & analysis.
  • Work closely with Director on the formulation process from concept to launch, ensuring products meet clean beauty standards, regulatory requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Create lab briefs for new projects in all makeup and skincare categories.
  • Ensure all new formulas are tried and tested, providing insightful feedback and ideating on testing questionnaires with marketing and PD team.
  • Manage and approve pre-production samples for open orders of products tracking and performing all batch approvals.
  • Oversee all creative assets ensuring accurate product depiction in brand visuals. Be on-site for arm swatch photo shoots as needed.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in product development within the beauty or cosmetics industry, with a focus on clean beauty products.
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Bring a proactive and detailed approach to projects being able to manage time and prioritize depending on project urgency.
  • Deep understanding of clean beauty principles, ingredient sourcing, formulation techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Solid project management abilities, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Passion for the makeup/skincare industry with a keen eye for color and innovation.
  • Ability to be flexible and agile on project changes, working with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment.
  • Have a can-do attitude, being able to jump in on any task needed to help the team.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • In office 3 days/week

Westman Atelier offers a holistic total compensation package designed to support employees in all aspects of life, including a robust suite of health benefits, wellness perks, 401k, and paid parental leave. The base salary for this position will range from $95,000- $108,000. Exact compensation may vary based on job related skills, experience, and location.
*this role is hybrid, with an expectation to be in our NYC office 3 days/week.
