Job description

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

The Product Developer Accessories manages the end-to-end development and commercialization of assigned global adidas Golf Accessories products, with primary focus on golf bags, gloves and related categories. The role converts product and design intent into buy-ready products that meet quality, cost, performance and calendar requirements.

Based in Carlsbad, the role is part of the integrated Accessories creation team and works closely with Product Marketing, Design, Materials Development, Sourcing, Quality and suppliers. The role maintains a strong working and dotted-line connection with the broader Product Development & Sourcing organization to align standards, ways of working and technical capability.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development and Commercialization

  • Manage assigned Accessories products from seasonal brief and design handoff through prototyping, testing, costing, commercialization and production readiness.
  • Build and maintain development timelines, specifications, bills of materials, sample requests, risk logs and approval records.
  • Translate design intent into clear technical requirements and work with suppliers to develop feasible, repeatable and scalable constructions.
  • Review prototypes and samples for function, dimensions, workmanship, materials, components, color and product integrity.
  • Ensure assigned products meet adidas milestone, data, quality and buy-ready requirements.

Cost, Quality and Risk Management

  • Partner with Costing, Sourcing and suppliers to achieve target cost and margin while protecting consumer value and product intent.
  • Identify technical, quality, capacity, tooling, lead-time and supply risks and drive timely resolution or escalation.
  • Coordinate product testing, wear or use testing and validation relevant to golf bags, gloves and Accessories.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for development or production issues.
  • Maintain accurate product data and documentation in relevant systems.

Cross-Functional and Supplier Partnership

  • Partner daily with Product Marketing, Design and Materials Development to make clear product decisions and maintain the seasonal calendar.
  • Manage development communication with suppliers, liaison offices and relevant PD&S partners.
  • Provide technical input on constructions, components, manufacturing processes and supplier capability.
  • Support innovation and continuous improvement in product quality, development efficiency, sustainability and speed.
  • Share technical knowledge and lessons learned across the Accessories and broader Golf creation teams.

Decision Scope and Accountability

  • Owns technical development, supplier follow-through, product readiness and development recommendations for assigned Accessories products.
  • Accountable for on-time commercialization, quality, cost visibility, technical documentation and proactive risk management.
  • Escalates material cost, quality, capacity, compliance or timeline issues to Product Operations leadership.

Requisite Education & Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Product Development, Engineering, Industrial Design, Textile Engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant product development or commercialization experience.
  • Experience developing bags, gloves, accessories, equipment, footwear, apparel or related soft goods strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers and cross-functional product creation teams.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and creation partners as required.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

  • Employees are eligible to earn an annual bonus based on both company and personal performance. Employees accrue prorated flexible time off in the amount .4388 hours per day that increases with years of service, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year and Service Time Off during milestone years.
  • The anticipated low and high end of the base pay range for this position is $99,500 - $119,500. Actual salary will be based on various factors, such as a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and competencies, proficiency for the role.
  • At adidas we offer a Hybrid work policy which requires attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Friday each week. For work requiring a high degree of collaboration or an in-person presentation, in-office attendance is required even on Friday. The working location of this position is Carlsbad, California.
