Job description

Cetera Financial Group is currently seeking a Sr. Manager Network Engineering & Operations for our company's office located in either Dallas, San Diego or El Segundo.  This is a unique opportunity to be a part of our world class Infrastructure team to run our Enterprise Environment, stay in touch with latest technology and provide world class customer service to internal and external clients.

What you will do:

  • Support a WAN environment consisting of MPLS, SDWAN, IPSEC with a Virtual Cloud environments. Responsible for 24/7 up-time of Network Infrastructure.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of managing multi-cloud network environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Possess extensive knowledge of anomaly detection and Proactive monitoring utilizing various Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
  • Research and implement new / best of breed Networking and Artificial Intelligence networking architecture and toolsets
  • Provides training, mentoring, coaching, and leadership for network engineers.
  • Maintains and sets strategic direction for data networks, including hardware, operating systems and patching
  • Design and implement short / long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future needs
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Evaluates and documents issue resolution and analyzes trends for ways to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration and appropriate use.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance and inventory, life cycle management and related documentation.
  • Provides "ownership" of problem thru final resolution.
  • Plan, acquire, and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization's network.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards
  • Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for IT projects and associated efforts.
  • Negotiate & Manage Network budgets, contracts and invoices. Creates and maintains service level agreements
  • Manage, in concert with the security team, and ensure effectiveness of security solutions including firewalls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization's executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users
  • Manage operational costs; conduct near / long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality / user base.
  • Direct and administrate a contingent of network analysts and technicians and conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
  • Act as an Expert level SME in the areas of Routing and Switching technologies and IP communication for traditional office, AWS, Azure and Data Center environments.
  • Crisp knowledge of SDWAN, Zscaler, Palo Alto configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Clear understanding of AWS / Azure / GCP Networking, VPC, Security groups, Transit Gateways, ALB/ELB, EC2 and related AWS services to support, enhance and troubleshoot cloud environments. 
  • Ability to lead local and remote teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Collaborate with on shore and offshore users including multiple time zones across US
  • Review and implement changes on the network, following Change management process  
  • In conjunction with the Director and Senior Engineers, develop networking technology standards and infrastructure requirements. 
  • Perform all other responsibilities and duties deemed necessary

What you need to have:

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in network administration or engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, MIS, related field and or technical training. Advanced technical/business degree is a plus.
  • Cisco CCNA and CCNP certification required.   
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certified, and AWS Network Certification.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to make real time decisions
  • Strong background in IT service delivery role (i.e., engineering support for projects)
  • Can link strategy and actions to business impact and results
  • Ability to communicate and influence upward as well as laterally
  • The individual must demonstrate from prior experience that they can manage offshore support
  • Strong skills on collaboration with peer groups - Server, Messaging and other stakeholders
  • Organized and detail oriented with a strong technical acumen and manage risks
