POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager, Network Engineering is responsible for leading the architecture, design, engineering, operation, automation, lifecycle management, and service quality of the Company's enterprise network systems and services. This role manages a team of network professionals accountable for reliable, secure, and scalable LAN, WAN, wireless, data center and related connectivity capabilities.

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Connectivity and Security Services, the Manager establishes practical technology roadmaps and engineering standards that support business objectives, service availability expectations, operational resilience, and audit and compliance requirements.

The role leads network engineers and other technical contributors. This leader partners closely with IT infrastructure, business stakeholders, vendors, service providers, and consultants to ensure network services meet enterprise needs and are delivered with strong documentation, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer-focused execution.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Roadmap
Contribute to the development of short- and long-term strategic technology roadmaps for enterprise network platforms, supported by pragmatic designs that align with business strategies, customer expectations, service level objectives, and operational standards.
Define, review, and maintain network architecture blueprints, hardware and software standards, design models, specifications, diagrams, and lifecycle plans for network systems and services.
Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies applicable to the enterprise network environment; evaluate opportunities to improve reliability, security, scalability, automation, service quality, and cost efficiency.

Technical Leadership
Provide technical leadership and management for network systems projects across LAN, WAN, wireless, data center, cloud networking, and related enterprise connectivity services.
Lead the architecture, design, automation, engineering, product lifecycle, and development of network systems and services, including delivery, deployment, documentation, and operations.
Establish and maintain technical standards, configuration practices, documentation requirements, and continuous improvement processes that support secure, highly available, and well-governed network infrastructure.
Coordinate investigations of operational problems, provide recommendations for improvement, and keep management informed on service health, technology changes, risks, and innovations that may impact business decisions.
Champion software defined infrastructure and identify and lead opportunities for further automation in estate.
Deliver operational excellence with ownership of network incident, problem, and change management processes with a focus on continuous service improvement.
Provide technical guidance on network security and deliver cohesive network and network security strategies and integrations.

Team, Vendor & Governance Leadership
Build, manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing network engineering team responsible for enterprise network architecture, engineering, and service delivery across globally distributed environments.
Embrace, sponsor, and coach agile ways of working, with an emphasis on automation, repeatable engineering practices, documentation quality, and operational support.
Provide recommendations for budget needs within the network technology space and support vendor/service provider evaluation, procurement, and service management activities.
Ensure network standards, documentation, and operating practices support audit, compliance, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational risk management requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

College degree in a relevant technical area or equivalent work experience; relevant industry certifications preferred.

8+ years of relevant work experience in network engineering, network operations, or infrastructure management.

5+ years of experience in engineering roles supporting LAN, WAN, and network security systems.

5+ years of experience managing high-performing teams of network subject matter experts, architects, or engineers.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Technical & Leadership Qualifications
Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise network protocols and technologies, including BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, QoS, SDWAN, wireless networking, automation, and scripting.
Experience designing, configuring, and tuning network platforms, including Meraki and Aruba; experience with data center network platforms and Arista switching technologies, including VxLAN EVPN services.
Knowledge of and experience with highly available, secure, and scalable network designs.
Understanding of disaster recovery strategies for enterprise systems and secure, scalable cloud networking concepts, with Microsoft Azure experience preferred.
SDWAN experience, advanced network monitoring and diagnostic tools experience, and strong understanding of the OSI model as it relates to application troubleshooting preferred.
Strong ITIL operational awareness, customer service orientation, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in matrixed and geographically distributed teams.
