Job description

Job Description Summary
This Lead Electrical Engineer position will be responsible for the development of RF electronics designs used within a Magnetic Resonance (MR) system. The successful candidate will work with technical team members to deliver innovative designs for new product introductions. The candidate will leverage knowledge of analog design & simulation, RF cascade analysis, signal filtering & conditioning, power supply design, and circuit board design process to ensure quality design output. The RF designs this candidate owns will support critical MRI scanner functionality for signal transmit and receive - enabling high fidelity system performance and image quality.
Work Location: Hybrid / On site (3-5 days/wk in office)
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Own schematic capture and layout for circuit boards implementing small-signal RF, high fidelity ADCs/DACs/PLLs, FPGAs/processors, high speed interfaces, various industry standard digital interfaces, power supplies.
  • Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.
  • Work with FPGA designer and Firmware Team to define architecture, and support development. Work with related sub-systems (Tx / Rx coil design, power, cooling, etc) to manage interactions.
  • Lead technical investigations with team to retire technical risks and support field issues.
  • Test and verify hardware to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, through bench testing, system integration testing, reliability testing, etc.
  • Engage in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.
  • Support legacy RF designs as needed to support customers and manufacturing. Drive improvements in new designs to address deficiencies and opportunities.
  • Update knowledge and skills in order to keep up industry standard developments and interfaces.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 3 years design experience
  • Experience and knowledge in analog simulation, design workflow, hardware evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and bring up circuit board designs (including schematic capture, layout, board troubleshooting, etc).
  • Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
  • Experience with typical electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc

Desired Characteristics
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years design experience
  • Experience implementing WiFi in design / productization, working with commercially available chipsets
  • Experience with designs implementing embedded processors and associated interfaces to FPGA or other devices
  • Demonstrated experience in MATLAB or equivalent simulation/modeling tool
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools such as ADS, Cadence, PSPICE, etc.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
  • Excellent teamwork, coordination and communication skills
  • Experienced in developing project plans and estimates
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • EMC compatible design/solution experience
  • Design for Reliability and Manufacturability experience
