Job Description

We are seeking a motivatedSeniorCertificationDesignEngineerto support aviation regulatory approvals for avionics products installed on commercial aircraft. This role focuses on obtaining Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) from the FAA and global regulatory authorities. The ideal candidate brings handson experience certifying avionics appliances and systems and enjoys acting as the technical interface across teams and with external stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the technical certification focal point internally and externally for assigned STC projects
  • Develop complete STC design data packages and substantiation documentation required for regulatory approval
  • Interpret aircraft designs and define electrical, mechanical, and functional interfaces to support safe avionics installations
  • Create and check manufacturing and installation drawings, including kit drawings (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Generate required aircraft documentation such as Master Data Lists, Weight & Balance, Electrical Load Analysis, Engineering Orders, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)
  • Prepare compliance documents including EWIS, System Safety Assessments, and other certification substantiation artifacts
  • Support FirstofType installations at customer sites, domestically and internationally
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR/CDR) to ensure certification requirements are clearly communicated and met
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with customers, FAA and foreign authorities, supply chain, quality, program management, and engineering teams
  • Clearly communicate technical solutions in both written and verbal form to customers and leadership
  • Ensure adherence to Export Control, Technology Control Plans, compliance processes, and company policies
  • Knowledge of communication, navigation, surveillance, and data/voice recording avionics systems is a plus

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited fouryear institutionor5-6 years of relevant aviation/avionics certification experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Proven experience supporting STC certification for avionics systems or appliances
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
  • Approximately 10% domestic and international travel
  • Must be aU.S. Person(U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee)

Salary Range:

$113,600.00-$151,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
