Job description

Description Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company is seeking a Mission Planning Engineer in Patuxent River, MD. The Mission Planning Engineer supports the integration, certification, sustainment, and operational use of mission planning systems across Naval Aviation platforms. Collaborates with engineering teams, program offices, and fleet operators to ensure systems are effectively integrated, maintained, and operationally reliable. Ensures mission planning capabilities meet fleet needs, enabling safe, efficient mission execution and timely resolution of system issues through coordinated engineering support. Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $100k-$145k annually (depending on experience)
Work Location: Hybrid remote/in-office. (see onsite requirements below) **On-site Requirements: This position requires the ability to work onsite at Patuxent River, MD 60%+ of the time. Essential Functions: * Mission Planning Systems Engineering
* Support integration, sustainment, testing, and evaluation of mission planning systems across multiple platforms
* Assist with lifecycle support from development through operational use
* Software Integration & Evaluation
* Evaluate mission planning software functionality, interfaces, and compatibility
* Assess operational suitability and system performance
* Certification & Compliance Support
* Support certification efforts for mission planning systems and mission data loading capabilities
* Contribute to verification, validation, and compliance documentation
* Operational Support
* Interface with fleet users and platform teams to identify requirements and resolve mission planning issues
* Support mission planning workflows and operational execution needs
* Mission Data Management
* Support mission data loading processes, configuration management, and data distribution
* Assist with mission planning workflows and system configuration control
* Coordination & Collaboration
* Coordinate with Data Integrity, Navigation, Surveillance, and Communications engineers
* Interface with PMAs, software vendors, and platform stakeholders
* Other duties as assigned or required Requirements Required: * Experience with mission planning systems, including:
* JMPS, VMPS, NOMS, or similar mission planning applications
* Mission data loaders and mission planning workflows
* Knowledge of:
* Systems engineering principles and software integration
* Verification & validation, test & evaluation, and configuration management
* Requirements management processes
* Understanding of:
* Aviation mission planning processes and flight planning concepts
* Airspace operations and military aviation mission execution
* Ability to support cross-functional coordination across engineering disciplines and stakeholders Desired: * Experience supporting Naval Aviation or DoD aviation programs
* Familiarity with mission planning system certification processes
* Experience working with operational fleet users or aviation platform teams
* Knowledge of data integrity, navigation, surveillance, or communications systems integration
* Experience with mission planning system upgrades, modernization, or software development environments Education/Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field and at least 4 years mission planning and domain experience Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required.
