United Nations Canine Handler
Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly
Compensation: $36.00/hour USD
Global K9 Protection Group LLC is looking for a dedicated and passionate United Nations Canine Handler to serve as an integral part of the GK9PG Team.
Summary:
  • Guard and protect UNDC and the Condominium and its property against explosives, and to the further extent possible.
  • Cooperate with the Building Security personnel in case of acts of terrorism, fire, theft, pilferage, malicious injury, damage, or destruction.
  • Conduct routine patrols, inspections, and investigations at UNDC and the Condominium as mutually agreed upon with UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Permit only authorized deliveries of items to include, but not limited to furniture, equipment, mail, packages, luggage, food, and people in possession of said items to enter the premises only after being properly screened.
  • Participate in trainings on evacuation planning and disaster recovery planning in conjunction with UNDC, the Condominium, and building management on a regular basis.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the United Nations Canine Handler include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Supports the strategic direction of the organization's operations division.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Assists with operational administrative duties.
  • Participate in trainings, in conjunction with the UNDC, the Condominium, and building management, to include partnering with adjacent buildings, their management, local law enforcement, and other organizations in order to ensure a clear and effective communication program is in place at UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Participate in crisis management planning in conjunction with UNDC, the Condominium, and building management on a regular basis. These planning exercises will be designed to test the responsiveness, effectiveness, and readiness of the UNDC's and Condominium's Crisis Management Team, in which K-9 Handlers will participate.
  • Assist local emergency responders with all medical and other building emergency conditions. CPR and AED certification required.
  • Carry out all daily duties as defined in K-9 Post Orders and as directed by building, UNDC and Condominium management, generally described as follows:
  • Inspect all vehicles, packages, mail, and people before allowing entrance to the Three United Nations Plaza loading dock.
  • Assist the loading dock security officer in the operation of the loading dock security barrier.
  • Perform all duties as described in post orders and as directed by building, UNDC, and Condominium management.
  • Perimeter K-9 Team: Maintain a visible presence at the entrances of One, Two, and Three United Nations Plaza at all times during shift. As directed, inspect all items intended to enter One, Two, and Three United Nations Plaza and The One United Nations Plaza Hotel.
  • K-9 Handlers must become and remain familiar with UNDC's and the Condominium's emergency procedures and evacuation plans, and shall be capable of instructing UNDC and Condominium personnel, tenants, and visitors on how to evacuate the building during an emergency or training situation.
  • Conduct a quarterly review and update the Post Orders and Rules of Conduct to ensure up-to-date and efficient operations.
  • Review and updates on a quarterly basis or as specifically requested by UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Post Orders

Other Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years' presently active experience as a law enforcement agency K-9 Handler, or:
  • Must be a retired law enforcement agency K-9 Handler, or:
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a United States Military K-9 Handler.
  • K-9 team must be certified to detect conventional and peroxide-based explosives in accordance with the standards of the North American Police Work Dog Association and the BATFE National Odor
  • Recognition Test while receiving a minimum of fifty (50) hours documented K-9 Team specific annual/refresher training.
  • K-9 Handler must have experience working at a similar site and must meet the below listed training requirements.
  • Have and maintain the physical capability to perform the tasks required of the job assignment and satisfy such objective tests or criteria, if any, as shall be generally applicable to UNDC and the Condominium, including those constituting both normal and emergency operations requiring physical exertion such as standing or walking for entire shift, climbing stairs, lifting, and carrying objects, and running.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, write and converse in the English language in a manner readily understood by the average native English language speaker with the minimum equivalent of a high school diploma or GED in the United States.
  • K-9 Handlers must have submitted to and successfully passed a 10-panel drug screening test at Contractor's cost, administered by any agency of UNDC's and the Condominium's choosing or consent.
  • K-9 Handlers must have submitted to a Stanton Survey personality test or an equivalent thereof acceptable to UNDC and the Condominium.
  • K-9 Handlers must have submitted to a background investigation, administered by the Contractor at the Contractor's sole expense, to include a full and complete criminal records check, a full and complete fingerprint search, and comprehensive employment and education verification.
  • Criminal record checks shall include all jurisdictions in which the candidate has resided and worked.
  • K-9 Handlers must have submitted to an Employment History, to include a minimum often (10) years' employment history.
  • Prior to service hereunder, all K-9 Handlers must have submitted to a minimum of two (2) Neighborhood Reference to include individual contact of applicant neighbors verifying term of residency, applicant's general character and suitability for a position of trust.
  • K-9 Handlers must have submitted to character references verification, to include reference contact verifying character and suitability for a position of (9) Be registered Security Guards as per the New York State Department of State "Security Guard Act of 1992."
  • Be a US citizen or have a valid US work permit.
  • Be CPR and AED Certified.
  • Be free of a criminal background or record of conviction other than minor vehicle/traffic violations.
  • Be free of personal credit defaults within the past three (3) years without qualified disclosure satisfactory to UNDC and the Condominium.
  • Maintain good health and personal hygiene.
  • Possess ability to hear ordinary conversation.
  • Possess binocular vision corrective to 20/30 and be free of color blindness.
  • Have a United States high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
