Job description

Position Overview

The HR Specialist will focus on recruitment, onboarding, and new hire engagement. Role includes managing the flow of candidates thorough the recruitment process, partnering with hiring managers to fill vacancies, on-boarding new staff, and serving as point of contact for new staff through probationary period (first 90 days).

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Aviva campus in meeting recruiting, on-boarding and retention goals.
  • Efficiently & effectively fill open positions, which may include hard-to-fill openings requiring passive sourcing.
  • Ensure that all openings are appropriately requisitioned and approved based on budgeted status.
  • Facilitate the creation of a recruiting and interviewing plan for each open position and coordinate with hiring managers.
  • Develop and maintain a strong familiarity with all position functions to identify suitable candidates.
  • Use social and professional networking sites, career sites, and the internet to identify and source candidates.
  • Build networks to find qualified passive candidates, develop and maintain candidate pipelines.
  • Serve as liaison with approved agencies and headhunters as business needs require.
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting and research new recruiting strategies based on hiring trends.
  • Review new applicants in a timely manner, evaluate qualifications and disposition appropriately. Maintain appropriate notes in applicant profile.
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews by phone or on-site to further determine appropriateness for further review.
  • Maintain all pertinent applicant and interview data in the applicant tracking system.
  • Publish a weekly recruiting report detailing open positions and recruiting/hiring status.
  • Coordinate and extend offers of employment as appropriate. Initiate and oversee the onboarding process (internal paperwork, background screening, electronic through HRIS).
  • Maintain campus job descriptions to ensure accuracy with current job responsibilities and requirements.
  • Support campus employee engagement and recognition activities.

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in business, human resources, or related field (professional work in the field of human resources can substitute for degree).
  • 1-2 years in Human Resources including the sourcing/hiring of staff. Healthcare or hospitality experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Skilled in "best practice" screening and interviewing techniques. Proven skills in sourcing and interacting with candidates on social media, job boards, and professional association sites are required.
  • Goal-oriented, and able to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of personnel policy and procedure, federal/state laws, local ordinances employment practices.
  • Ability to gain and maintain knowledge of laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care as it relates to hiring and retaining staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish / maintain positive and productive working relationships and communicate effectively with employees, prospective hires, the healthcare and hospitality community and the general public.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Strong customer-focused orientation, relationship building and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, HRIS, ATS, LMS systems, web-based / social media platforms. ADP knowledge a plus.
  • Demonstrated time management, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
