Job Title: HR & Recruiting Coordinator

Location: On-site

City/Stat/County: Wilmington, NC – New Hanover County

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, 40hrs/wk


Join Our Team

The HR & Recruiting Coordinator provides hands-on support across the full employee lifecycle, splitting time evenly between recruiting coordination and general HR administration. This role works closely with, and provides direct support to, the Talent Acquisition Partner and HR Specialists, helping ensure open positions are filled efficiently and that day-to-day HR operations run smoothly.

What You'll DoTalent Acquisition & Recruiting (50%)
  • Post and maintain job openings in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS).

  • Review applications and screen candidates against minimum qualifications.

  • Coordinate phone screens, interviews, and hiring manager schedules.

  • Maintain accurate candidate records, interview notes, and hiring statuses within the ATS.

  • Communicate professionally with candidates throughout the hiring process, including interview confirmations, status updates, and rejection notifications.

  • Assist with recruiting interns, temporary staff, and other workforce initiatives.

  • Represent Coastal Horizons at career fairs, college recruiting events, and community outreach activities.

  • Support onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition from candidate to employee.

Human Resources Support (50%)
  • Assist HR Specialists with daily HR administration and HRIS maintenance.

  • Prepare offer letters and coordinate background and reference checks.

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientation materials, benefits enrollment logistics, and exit documentation.

  • Maintain employee personnel files, I-9 documentation, and compliance records.

  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits, escalating complex issues when appropriate.

  • Track employee performance review timelines and maintain documentation.

  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal communications.

  • Support unemployment claims, workers' compensation claims, leave tracking, and other HR administrative processes.

  • Assist with compliance reporting, audits, EEO documentation, and labor law postings.

  • Help maintain HR policies, forms, and internal resources.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Educational/Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • 0–2 years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting coordination, or administrative support.

  • Internship experience in HR or Talent Acquisition is welcomed.

  • Basic knowledge of HR practices and employment laws preferred.

  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and/or Human Resources Information System (HRIS) is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
