What is a Live In Fintech professional?

A Live In Fintech professional typically refers to someone who lives onsite or in close proximity to a fintech startup or company, often as part of an accelerator, incubator, or intensive program. These professionals are deeply involved in developing and growing financial technology solutions, working alongside founders, engineers, and other stakeholders. Their roles can range from technical development to business strategy, and they often benefit from immersive environments that foster rapid innovation and close collaboration. Living onsite can help them more easily network, participate in workshops, and respond quickly to business needs. This setup is common in fintech hubs and during startup bootcamps.

What are some of the unique challenges faced by professionals working in a live-in fintech role, and how can they prepare for them?

Professionals in live-in fintech positions often face the challenge of balancing intense work schedules with personal boundaries, as they may be required to live onsite or closely integrate with the company's operations. This can blur the lines between work and personal life, making time management and setting clear boundaries crucial. Additionally, live-in fintech roles may involve rapid response to technical issues and close collaboration with cross-functional teams, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills. To prepare, candidates should develop resilience, establish routines for self-care, and be comfortable with a fast-paced, dynamic environment typical of fintech startups.

What is the difference between Live In Fintech vs Live In Banking?

Required CredentialsFinance, tech certifications often preferredFinance, banking certifications often required
Industry UsageFintech startups and companiesCommercial and retail banking institutions
Common Search IntentFintech roles, tech finance jobsBanking roles, financial services jobs

Live In Fintech and Live In Banking roles differ mainly in work environment, credentials, and industry focus. Fintech positions are typically found in innovative tech firms within the financial sector, requiring a mix of finance and tech skills. Banking roles are more traditional, often in established financial institutions, emphasizing banking certifications. Understanding these differences helps job seekers target the right roles based on their skills and career goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Fintech Professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fintech Professional, you generally need strong analytical skills, a background in finance or technology, and often a relevant degree in finance, computer science, or engineering. Familiarity with technical tools like blockchain platforms, data analytics software, programming languages (such as Python or SQL), and industry certifications (like CFA or Fintech-focused credentials) is typical. Standout professionals also demonstrate adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills to bridge gaps between technical and business teams. These skills are crucial for innovating and delivering secure, user-friendly financial solutions in a rapidly evolving industry.

Job description

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We're dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid's network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.
This Week in Fintech is the largest global fintech media company with 200,000+ subscribers to a publication that provides insights, news, and connections within the financial technology ecosystem. What began as a newsletter focused on curating and sharing industry updates, trends, and innovations in the fintech space has grown to include a range of products including podcasts, events, conferences, and an online community to bring together fintech professionals, investors, and enthusiasts worldwide.
This Week in Fintech is seeking a highly organized, creative, and entrepreneurial Senior Events & Experiences Manager to help build and scale one of the most influential fintech communities in the world.
This is not a traditional events role. We are looking for someone who understands how experiences create brand value, strengthen relationships, drive partnerships, and build lasting community. You'll lead the strategy and execution behind TWIF's growing portfolio of experiences - from intimate executive dinners and private salons to large-scale conferences, ecosystem gatherings, and strategic partner activations. You'll work directly with leadership and become a key part of shaping how TWIF shows up across fintech, startups, venture capital, and media.
Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end execution of TWIF flagship events, conferences, executive dinners, community gatherings, and sponsored experiences from concept through onsite execution.
  • Partner with leadership to develop event strategies, programming concepts, and experience formats that strengthen TWIF's brand, audience growth, and ecosystem influence.
  • Build and manage relationships with venues, vendors, sponsors, speakers, VIP attendees, ecosystem partners, and community members.
  • Coordinate sponsor deliverables and partner integrations to ensure high-quality execution and long-term relationship growth.
  • Manage production timelines, budgets, run-of-show documents, vendor coordination, travel logistics, attendee communications, and onsite operations.
  • Help cultivate meaningful relationships across the fintech, startup, investor, and operator ecosystem through thoughtful hospitality and curated experiences.
  • Develop systems, playbooks, and repeatable processes that allow TWIF's events platform to scale without compromising quality or experience.

Qualifications
  • 5-8+ years of experience in events, experiential marketing, hospitality, media, startups, fintech, or community programming.
  • Proven ability to manage high-touch experiences involving founders, executives, investors, sponsors, and VIP audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to execute independently in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
  • Strong eye for audience experience, hospitality, branding, and event design.

Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone. To support that mission, we seek to build a diverse team of driven individuals who care deeply about making the financial ecosystem more equitable. We recognize that strong qualifications can come from both prior work experiences and lived experiences. We encourage you to apply to a role even if your experience doesn't fully match the job description. We are always looking for team members that will bring something unique to Plaid!
Plaid is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion or religious belief, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, sexual stereotypes, age, military or veteran status, disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. We also consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Plaid is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities in our recruiting process. If you need any assistance with your application or interviews due to a disability, please let us know at accommodations@plaid.com.
Please review our Candidate Privacy Notice here.
Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location. Pay and benefits are subject to change at any time, consistent with the terms of any applicable compensation or benefit plans.
