Job description

Circulation Library Assistant

Access Services invites Wheaton College undergraduate and graduate students to apply for the Circulation Library Assistant position for the 2026-27 academic year. Shifts are available Monday-Thursday 7:30am-midnight and Friday-Saturday 7:30am-10pm.
Circulation Library Assistants are members of the Access Services team and support the library's mission and vision. Role responsibilities include providing excellent customer service at the Circulation Desk and maintaining the library's physical collections and spaces. This position pays $15/hour. 
 

Duties and Responsibilities

   Provide customer service at the Circulation Desk
   Check out, check in, and renew library materials
   Sort, organize, shelve, inventory, and retrieve library materials
   Process payments at the Circulation Desk
   Maintain organization and cleanliness in library spaces
   May perform opening and closing procedures

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

   Ability to work diligently independently and as part of a team
   Ability to learn Library of Congress, Dewey, and other classification systems
   Ability to learn new computer systems
   Ability to perform detailed tasks with high level of accuracy and careful handling of materials
   Friendly and personable demeanor
   Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness
 

Qualifications

   Current Wheaton College undergraduate or graduate student
   Demonstrated good communication skills (written and verbal)
   Customer service experience preferred, but not required
