Job description

Part-Time, $30 to $40 hourly
PART TIME K-8th Credentialed MATH or ELA Teacher
We are hiring credentialed and/or experienced Math and ELA teachers to join our team of experienced and passionate educators. You must have at least two years of experience teaching Math or ELA for grades K-8. Experience in teaching or tutoring K-8 students in Math or ELA topics across educational environments. The ideal candidate for this position will have a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (masterโ€™s preferred).
The ideal candidate will teach a variety of Math or ELA courses and differentiate instruction for learners at all levels.
You will be asked to lead a small student learning community (SLC) off-site at local schools or meet with students one-on-one at our Los Altos office. SLC is a learning community of up to 15 students. Hybrid teaching, with occasional online and mainly in-person instruction.

This position offers approximately 10-20 hours per week with opportunities for increased working hours, if interested. The workday will be Monday - Friday, approximately 3-7pm with additional hours as requested and/or if desired.

  • Assume a high level of personal responsibility for the progress of all students
  • Respond to the needs of the families and students
  • Implementing developmentally appropriate activities for the age group
Professional Qualifications:
Teachers applying for this position are required to have, at minimum:
  • The ideal candidate for this position will have at least two years of experience teaching K-8 Math or ELA and a B.A./B.S. in a relevant field (masterโ€™s preferred)
  • California Teaching or Child Development Permit, demonstrated current eligibility to obtain a permit (desired), or prior experience working with school aged students.ย 
  • Must have a strong passion for Math or ELA, enjoy working with K-8 students, possess the emotional acuity and personality to inspire and engage kids, and maintain an excellent sense of humor.
  • Must be able to create a fun yet engaging curriculum.
  • Understand how to facilitate a positive learning environment
While not required for consideration, we would prefer candidates to have:
  • AA or BA in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or a directly related field
  • 2 years experience as Lead Teacher in a classroom
