Job description

Role Summary

Cannon Financial Institute is a leading professional development and consulting firm serving the top firms within the financial services industry. Our professionals conduct over 500 engagements per year, delivering exceptionally high-quality performance improvement experiences for our clients.

Cannon is seeking a hands-on developer and LMS administrator to build, launch, and support online learning for financial institutions. This role owns day-to-day LMS operations in Thought Industries (learner onboarding, reporting, troubleshooting) and partners with internal teams to develop and integrate eLearning content, tools, and client-facing solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead online learning product development (authoring, packaging, QA, release management).
  • Build and maintain eLearning interoperability and integrations (SCORM; experience with xAPI/Tin Can and LTI a plus).
  • Serve as the LMS administrator: user/role management, course configuration, enrollments, learning paths, reporting, and support workflows.
  • Manage courseware assets, versioning, and publishing standards across programs and clients.
  • Produce and deliver learner progress and completion reporting to client stakeholders.
  • Own learner onboarding, administration, and Tier I technical support for Cannon’s learning portal (including troubleshooting access, playback, completion tracking, and browser/device issues).
  • Support specialized web development projects tied to learning products and client solutions.
  • Consult with clients on custom online learning projects and implementation needs.
  • Partner with Enterprise Sales on prospect consulting, demos, and solution design for online and blended learning proposals.
  • Collaborate with internal online learning teams and instructors to support program delivery as needed.
  • Serve as a core team member for the Certified Wealth Strategist designation for online learning components.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience supporting an LMS and/or building eLearning content in a professional setting (SaaS LMS preferred).
  • Working knowledge of eLearning standards and packaging, including SCORM; ability to troubleshoot completion and tracking issues across browsers and devices.
  • Proficiency with modern web technologies used in eLearning and portals (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript); ability to read, troubleshoot, and safely modify code.
  • Experience administering LMS features such as enrollments, groups/audiences, roles/permissions, catalogs, learning paths, reporting, and notifications.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills, including investigating user issues, reproducing bugs, documenting fixes/workarounds, and escalating to vendors when needed.
  • Comfort working with data: exports/imports (CSV), basic data hygiene, and creating reliable operational reports for internal and client use.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users and client stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with xAPI (Tin Can) and/or Learning Record Stores (LRS); familiarity with AICC (legacy) content support.
  • Experience with LMS integrations and identity concepts such as SSO (SAML/OIDC), user provisioning, and roles/permissions mapping.
  • Ability to work with APIs and webhooks; basic scripting/automation to reduce manual admin work.
  • Experience administering Thought Industries; familiarity with other LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Docebo, Absorb, Cornerstone) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Understanding of accessibility and usability best practices for online learning (WCAG/Section 508 concepts) and how to QA for them.
  • Experience with video/audio workflows (editing, compression, captioning) and managing multimedia assets.
  • Comfort partnering with Sales on demos and solutioning; able to translate client needs into a practical implementation plan.
  • Experience supporting clients in regulated industries (privacy, security, and audit-friendly processes).

 Core competencies

  • Customer focus: responsive, professional support for learners, instructors, and client administrators.
  • Ownership mindset: proactive monitoring, issue prevention, and continuous improvement of the learning experience.
  • Systems thinking; able to connect content, data, integrations, and processes end-to-end.
  • Quality and documentation: repeatable processes, clear playbooks, and well-documented changes.
  • Collaboration: works effectively across Production, Instructional Technology, Enterprise Sales, and external vendors.
