Job description

Job Overview: 

Primoris Services Corporation's Renewable Energy Segment (PRE) is currenting searching for a Content Developer and Facilitator for our Solar Construction Sites.

PRE’s Training department is seeking experienced, knowledgeable individuals who can analyze training needs, create trainings, and facilitate training sessions that will increase employees’ knowledge and competence. Trainers should have a background in construction and field leadership.

Facilitated trainings should employ visual aids such as videos, Power Point, graphs, charts, presentations, etc., as well as activities to engage employees and ensure training retention, such as discussions, graphic organizers, illustrations, group work, team-teach activities, and more.

You will be assigned specific roles, SOPs, and/or construction activities for which you must analyze training needs, develop training content, and update training based on feedback. You will also be asked to facilitate training, observe and evaluate employees’ work to determine progress, provide feedback, make suggestions for improvement, and ensure training is completed in an effective and timely manner. Overall, this position must support Operations, Quality, and Safety teams in their efforts around safety, efficiency, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:  

  • Create and facilitate trainings for employees on site teams and in corporate departments; this may include (but not be limited to) using materials from NCCER or creating trainings for roles such as electrical / craft labor, foremen, general foremen, general superintendents, project managers, etc.
  • Use prior knowledge of construction, preferably with a specific understanding of renewables and/or field leadership, to develop and facilitate effective trainings
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) consultations to members of the Learning & Development department.
  • Analyze training needs and develop company-specific learning content through leadership & employee communication, document review, surveys, shadowing, interviews, etc. in order to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Create and continually improve engaging, effective, and objective-aligned role-based training content, systems, and materials
  • Employ methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops to deliver effective learning and trainings
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Coordinate with site teams and key stakeholders to ensure training requirements are met
  • Design and incorporate interactive training techniques that apply practical skills and demonstrate employee competency in controlled learning environments
  • Create and execute assessments and/or tracking practices that effectively assess employees’ ability to perform each trained skill, and ensure all materials are aligned with objectives
  • Frequently collaborate & communicate with site, apprenticeship, and training teams
  • Internalize company processes and procedures; provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) expertise and materials to the L&D team, and use this knowledge to create effective training content
  • Focus on learners actively practicing skills, mastering objectives, and retaining information rather than passively absorbing information
  • Coordinate with the Primoris Corporate Office and other Primoris Business Units about training offerings and needs of the people on project sites
  • Travel to remote construction site locations to lead trainings once content has been created (up to 75% travel average)
  • Effectively engage all learners at PRE, regardless of background, role, or experience
  • Identify potential trainers at project sites and our central office, and assist in their training/development
  • Assist Learning & Development Team with tracking trainings & communicating with field leadership / learners
  • Assist with other tasks and initiatives as directed

 Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction, including field leadership.
  • Strong initiative and willingness to learn and grow in new skill areas, including new technologies, Learning & Development skills, and industry/training certifications & best practices
  • Highly organized person who can use planning and processes to support daily work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products - Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Positive people skills and pleasant demeanor
  • Punctual & dependable
  • Excellent skills in time management, working autonomously, creative thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and both verbal and written communication
  • Passion for helping and leading others
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors, iPads, and personal computers
  • Ability to travel 50%-75% of weeks in each month (occasionally will have more or less travel based on holidays, content development needs, apprenticeship needs, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in training and / or education
  • Experience in Solar PV and/or BESS
  • Experience in electrical activities on a utility construction scale
  • Certified OSHA 510 (Standards for the Construction Industry), NABCEP, and/or NCCER
  • Proficient in capturing videos and other media
  • Proficient in Spanish
  • Proficient in Haitian Creole

Pay Equity  

$90,000- $110,000

This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. Primoris Renewable Energy reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical examination, as required by the company. 
  • Must comply with client safety requirements (e.g., clean-shaven, long sleeves, steel-toe boots).
  • Able to:  
    • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways. 
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work at heights or in confined spaces (e.g., towers, vessels, excavations). 
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (Use assistance for heavier loads). 
    • Stand or walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel). 
    • Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE when required. 

Work Environment: 

Location: Industrial construction sites, office, and/or fabrication shop.
