Job description

Position Summary:
Weymouth Child Development Center is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood team. The Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 3-5. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education and eager to make a positive impact during this critical stage of development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing daily lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Support classroom routines, including transitions, meals, nap time, and outdoor activities.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment in accordance with licensing standards.
  • Foster a warm, inclusive atmosphere where all children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to explore and grow.
  • Supervise and engage children during play, learning activities, and group projects.
  • Model and support appropriate behaviors using positive guidance techniques.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with families, staff, and children.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Assist with documentation of children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones as directed by the Lead Teacher.
  • Step in to help manage the classroom in the Lead Teacher's absence.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in a group setting is strongly preferred.
  • A warm, caring, and patient demeanor with a strong interest in working with young children.
  • Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and take initiative when needed.
  • Must meet all state and local licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
