Job Overview
The Communications and Development Intern will gain hands-on experience in communications and marketing within a larger team by supporting programmatic communications, donor relations, audience segmentation, database hygiene, and other duties as needed.
They will take part in various campaigns using social media, print design, copywriting, public relations, and project management. This position will help with outreach efforts and generate community involvement through various communication means.
This internship position is unpaid, but interns will receive a $500 stipend to help cover food, housing, and transportation costs, and college credit can be earned.
This in-person internship will run from August 31st, 2026, through December 18th, 2026, with a mandatory orientation onThursday, August 27th,from 9:00am-2:00pm at the Family Futures' office. This internship can also be extended into the next internship period for a second semester.
Family Futures employees, volunteers, and interns serve as spokespersons and champions of Family Futures in the communities we serve. A position at Family Futures may entail the following: the use of a personal vehicle, lifting of boxes (roughly 25 lbs.), as well as attendance of community events outside of regularly scheduled hours. Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the Communications and Fund Development Team:
  • Social Media content creation, management, and evaluation
  • Appeal development and management
  • Targeted outreach campaigns and community events
  • Campaign analytics and reporting
  • Donor communications and promotional materials
  • Website maintenance and quality assurance
  • Assist with planning and coordinating upcoming events (ex. Trunk-or-Treat and Spring Fundraiser)

Required Qualifications
  • Current college student or recent graduate
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong communication, time management, organization, and Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work autonomously, and be detail oriented
  • Ability to work in-person at least 15 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications
  • Design concept knowledge
  • Experience with the following:
    • Graphic design using Canva
    • Mail marketing platforms, such as MailChimp
    • Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and/or Instagram
    • Audio and/or video editing
    • WordPress and/or Elementor
  • General understanding of Google and Facebook analytics
