Job description

Habitat America, LLC, a rapidly growing property management company based in the Mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Maintenance Technician for Windsor Valley Apartments in Edgewood, Maryland.

The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing all technical and maintenance operations at the community. This leadership role ensures that the property is maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and curb appeal while providing excellent service to residents.

Position Summary

The Lead Maintenance Technician supervises and coordinates maintenance activities, manages work orders, supports unit turnovers, and oversees contractor performance. This position serves as the primary technical resource on-site and works closely with the Community Manager to ensure efficient property operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee daily maintenance operations for the community

  • Assign and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion

  • Perform and supervise appliance repairs, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting work

  • Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC-related issues (HVAC & CFC certifications preferred)

  • Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors

  • Ensure quality control and adherence to safety standards

  • Coordinate and complete unit turnovers efficiently

  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies

  • Participate in and manage the after-hours on-call rotation

  • Maintain professional and positive resident relations

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of apartment maintenance experience required

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of appliance repair, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and painting

  • HVAC/CFC certification strongly preferred

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively

  • Ability to read, interpret, and oversee contractor work scopes

  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required

  • Physically capable of extensive mobility, lifting, and outdoor work

  • Willingness to work weekends and participate in on-call rotation
