Job description

4423 Pheasant Ridge Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24014Job DescriptionThe Labor Management Specialist is responsible for analyzing workforce data, optimizing staffing levels, and implementing labor management strategies.. This role requires discretion and independent judgment in interpreting data, advising operational leaders, prioritizing labor improvement opportunities, and developing recommendations that support operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes.

Workforce Analytics & Labor Management

Monitor and analyze labor productivity metrics including overtime utilization, agency spend, and variance to budget to determine root causes, assess operational impact, and recommend corrective actions.

Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for labor cost reduction and workforce optimization.

Develop and distribute regular labor management reports for operational and executive leadership.

Collaborate with department managers to build and maintain effective staffing models and scheduling templates. Adjust staffing grids based on census and acuity.

Advise Finance, HR, and Operations leadership on appropriate FTE utilization.

Operational Support

Partner with Operations to identify knowledge gaps and training needs across communities and regions.

Provide hands-on coaching during community visits to reinforce financial and labor best practices and improve labor performance.

Assist with onboarding of new Executive Directors and Regional Directors, with emphasis on financial literacy, labor management, and operational reporting.

Training & Education

Deliver training on labor management (labor hours and spend management), labor budget management, to Executive Directors and Department Heads. Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor to department directors and managers on labor management best practices.

Facilitate workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions focused on FTE analysis, labor management and productivity optimization.

Lead training sessions on productivity tools, systems, and reporting platforms.

Compliance

Ensure labor practices align with applicable state regulatory laws, and organizational expectation.

Support payroll and timekeeping system integrity by monitoring missed punches.
