This role serves as a key subject-matter expert in EMR optimization and AI-powered workflow automation, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance healthcare delivery through technology.

The ideal candidate combines deep eCW configuration expertise with hands-on experience building or deploying agentic AI solutions using platforms such as Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI, and strong interoperability standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

EMR Optimization & eCW Configuration

  • Serve as a primary eClinicalWorks (eCW) subject matter expert, performing hands-on system configuration, module management, template development, and automated workflow design.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and department leaders to identify workflow pain points and implement eCW enhancements that reduce friction and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Configure and maintain eCW modules, including Practice Management, Population Health, and healow Patient Portal, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
  • Support eCW system upgrades, patch deployments, and regression testing in coordination with the eCW vendor and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide peer guidance on eCW best practices, configuration standards, and clinical workflow design to fellow analysts.
  • Serve as backup support for adjacent technology platforms to ensure operational continuity.

AI Integration & Intelligent Automation

  • Assist in developing and deploying AI-powered solutions integrated with the eCW ecosystem, leveraging large language model (LLM) APIs such as Claude (Anthropic) and OpenAI GPT to automate clinical workflow
  • Evaluate and implement AI tools for clinical decision support, predictive analytics, and intelligent alerting within the EMR environment.
  • Contribute to the organization's AI adoption roadmap in partnership with the CIO and Director of Technology, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor AI model performance, audit outputs for accuracy and bias, and iterate on solutions to ensure clinical reliability and operational value.

Interoperability

  • Ensure data integrity, standardization, and interoperability across systems using healthcare data standards, including HL7 FHIR, CCD/CDA, and ICD-10/CPT coding frameworks.
  • Support data exchange with health information exchanges (HIEs), payers, and external partners, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Collaboration, Peer Mentorship & Project Execution

  • Provide day-to-day peer mentorship and technical guidance to junior analysts, sharing knowledge on eCW, AI tools, and data best practices.
  • Manage assigned projects and workstreams with strong organizational skills, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Participate in end-user training sessions on eCW functionality and AI-enabled tools to drive adoption and proficiency across clinical and administrative staff.
  • Proactively identify system gaps, automation opportunities, and emerging technology solutions to support continuous improvement.
  • Undertake additional system optimization or enhancement work as directed by the Director of Technology Products or the CIO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MHA, MSHI, MS in Data Science, or related) preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health informatics or clinical information systems, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Required: Demonstrated, hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW), including system configuration, workflow build, and template development.
  • Required: Proven experience integrating or deploying AI/LLM-based solutions (Claude, OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent) in a healthcare or enterprise setting, including prompt engineering and API integration.
  • Proficiency in healthcare data management, including SQL querying, and HL7/FHIR data standards
  • Deep understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare operations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical and technical requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey data and AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
