Key Areas of Responsibility:
Concept:

  • Collaborate in the development of concept design through planning, sketching, rendering.
  • Select directional images, and finishes.
  • Review with Design Director Project Leaders, Senior Directors and/or Principals.
Schematic:
  • Acquire and coordinate samples from vendors.
  • Formulate furniture direction.
  • Further develop concept design with sketches, thumbnails, plans and the creation of specialty finishes.
  • Refine finish selections.
  • Review with Design Director, Project Leaders, Senior Directors and/or Principals.
Design Development:
  • Flush out and refine the approved design language into buildable drawings.
  • Assist in any information the Spec department may require.
  • Review and implement design specifications with the Spec department, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes.
  • Coordinate with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project. (Only applicable for Intermediate Designer).
  • Review with Design Director, Project Leaders, Senior Directors and/or Principals.
Construction Documents:
  • Work with Project Management in the development of specialty custom built items.
  • Assist in the development for a complete drawing package, including detailing, elevations, and plans as per Yabu Pushelberg Office Cad Standards.
  • Compilation and finalization of all FF&E pieces with sufficient information to pass through to the Specification Department.
  • Assist in the development of a small drawing package including full design intent of all millwork and custom furniture as per Yabu Pushelberg Office Cad Standards.
  • Continue Coordination with outside project consultants such as lighting, MEP, Structural, Signage, kitchen consultants etc, as necessary to complete a well-coordinated project. (Only applicable for Intermediate Designer).
  • Review and implement necessary changes and additions with the Spec department, re: FF&E, hardware, plumbing, and architectural finishes.
  • Review with Design Director, Project Leaders, and Project Manager.
Construction Administration:
  • Provide sufficient information when requested by the Project Management team in the development of budgets.
  • Answer vendor/contractor's questions.
  • Review Shop Drawings and Submittals.
  • Provide site clarifications when necessary.
  • Review with Project Manager, Design Director and Project Leaders.
Qualifications:
  • No work experience necessary (Junior Designer) and 2+ years of work experience necessary (Intermediate Designer).
  • At minimum an Associate's Degree in a related field of Design (Interior design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Fashion design, etc.).
  • Entry level knowledge (Junior Designers) and adequate knowledge (Intermediate Designer) of the Interior Design Profession.
  • AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch up and b+w hand rendering skills are necessary (Intermediate Designer) and within 3 months of starting the position (Junior Designer)
  • Additional 3D software skills are an asset.
