Job description

Overview We are seeking a seasoned finance leader for an interim assignment supporting complex accounting operations, financial reporting, and key finance initiatives during a period of change. This role is ideal for a hands-on Controller, Director of Accounting, or senior finance consultant who can quickly assess the environment, stabilize operations, and drive tangible improvements. The interim leader will partner closely with executive leadership, operations, IT, and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities Assume ownership or provide senior-level support for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Ensure balance sheet integrity through complex account reconciliations and financial reporting oversight Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements; serve as primary finance contact for auditors as needed Stabilize, document, and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy Identify quick-win process improvements and automation opportunities, particularly around close and reporting Serve as finance lead or key stakeholder for ERP implementations, system conversions, or post-acquisition integrations Translate accounting and reporting requirements into functional specifications for IT and developers Support M&A, divestiture, or restructuring efforts including purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, and integration Partner with Operations, HR, and senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Provide clear, executive-level financial insights in fast-moving or ambiguous environments Ideal Background 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance, including Controller, Director of Accounting, or senior consulting roles Demonstrated success stepping into interim or project-based finance leadership roles Deep experience with month-end close, audit management, and balance sheet cleanup Strong exposure to system implementations or upgrades (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, Dynamics, Hyperion, BlackLine, or similar) Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, or major organizational change Comfortable working hands-on while also advising leadership at a strategic level Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills; ability to work with large and complex data sets CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required Why This Interim Role This assignment is designed for senior finance professionals who enjoy stepping into evolving environments, bringing structure to complexity, and leaving organizations stronger than they found them.
