Job Description
Job Title: IR RN Manager
Profession: Executive Leadership

Hours per Shift: 8.5 hours with 1 hour lunch
Experience: Minimum 2 years in Interventional Radiology
License: Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Must-Have:
- Unit Manager Experience
- PALS certification
Description:
The department focuses on Interventional Radiology.
The manager will oversee the unit and ensure efficient operations.
Travelers must have PALS certification, but pediatric experience is not necessary.
There is one interventional radiology room and a cath lab used for vascular procedures.
There will be a total of 7 registered nurses on staff.
On average, there are 5-8 interventional radiology procedures performed daily.
Additionally, preparations and IV starts are done for approximately 50 patients daily.
Common procedures include biopsies, complex vascular interventions, and pain management injections.
The candidate will manage patient care in all phases of the procedure: pre, intra, and post.
Communication with physicians and mid-level providers regarding plans of care and changes in disposition is essential.
IV insertions and CT preparations for scheduled patients will also be required.
The ideal candidate will have experience in interventional radiology and be proficient in IV starts.
Critical care experience is considered a bonus.
The electronic medical record system used is Allscripts.
The manager will coordinate and run the schedule, stepping in to assist with patient care as needed.
A certified surgical technologist will be paired with the physician for procedures.
There are designated shifts, typically beginning at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Lunch breaks are typically one hour long, with two 15-minute breaks included in shifts.
Flexibility in scheduling is important, as requests will be accommodated when possible.
Night shifts are staffed by two permanent registered nurses with no call required.
No floating to other units is expected, except for specific cases in the cath lab.
Scrub color is royal blue, with permission to wear surgical scrubs in the cath lab.
Unit-specific orientation will be provided over three shifts, with additional support evaluated as needed.
All documentation is electronic, utilizing the Allscripts EMR system.
Cancellation policies apply to shifts worked.
This is set in an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
