Job description

We are a growing plaintiff-side personal injury firm seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Intake Attorney to serve the team first encountering prospective clients. This role combines legal analysis, ethical oversight, and community engagement to ensure high quality case selection and a strong pipeline of viable claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Case Evaluation & Intake
    • Train intake staff and conduct initial legal assessments of prospective personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, and other tort claims. For complex casualty claims, assist with development of file for review by complex attorney.
    • Communicate clearly and compassionately with potential clients regarding case strengths, weaknesses, and next steps.
    • Collaborate with intake staff to ensure timely follow-up and conversion of qualified leads.
  • Conflicts & Waivers Oversight
    • Supervise and manage the firm’s conflicts-checking process to ensure compliance with Washington Rules of Professional Conduct.
    • Identify potential conflicts of interest and advise on appropriate resolution strategies.
    • Draft, review, and oversee the use of conflict waivers
  • Team Collaboration & Training
    • Support and mentor intake specialists and marketing team in issue spotting and communication with potential clients and referral sources.
    • Assist in developing intake protocols and best practices to improve efficiency and client experience.
  • Community Engagement & Relationship Building
    • Assist in fostering and maintaining relationships with referral sources, including attorneys, medical providers, and community organizations.
    • Participate in networking events and local outreach efforts to enhance the firm’s presence in the community.
    • Contribute to strategies that strengthen the firm’s reputation and referral pipeline.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school or apprenticeship equivalent.
  • Active license to practice law in Washington State, in good standing.
  • 4+ years of experience in personal injury or civil litigation preferred (intake or case evaluation experience strongly valued).
  • Strong understanding of Washington personal injury law and ethical rules, particularly conflicts of interest and claims assessment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgment calls in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in client service and community engagement.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supervising or training support staff.
  • Experience in claims management or claims intake.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • An Oregon law license (in addition to WA) is a plus.
