Job description

The Knowledge Management Lawyer (KML) will work under the direction of the KM Counsel, Real Estate to support the practice group's knowledge management strategy and develop and implement projects that address the group's knowledge needs. The KML will leverage knowledge management best practices and advanced technologies, including AI-powered tools and solutions, to enhance knowledge capture, process efficiency and client service delivery.
Knowledge Strategy
  • Partner with the KM Counsel, members of the Knowledge & Innovation Department, and practice group attorneys to develop and implement solutions and best practices to increase effectiveness and efficiency within the Real Estate practice group
  • Work with the KM Counsel and the Applied Analytics and Practice Solutions teams to evaluate and pilot legal technology, artificial intelligence applications, and client-facing applications that enhance the delivery of legal services

Knowledge Resources & Practice Intelligence
  • Develop, organize, and maintain forms, precedents, checklists, data points, and other work product and substantive know-how for the group; ensure content is readily accessible in the Firm's document management system and other matter management and content-sharing platforms
  • Identify and implement processes for capturing relevant business and matter data in the Firm's experience management database, ensuring that matter profiles are updated in a timely manner to accurately reflect the work performed
  • Design and maintain visual reports, dashboards, and other materials that surface insights from business and matter data for internal and external audiences

AI & Practice Technology
  • Stay abreast of emerging legal technology trends and tools that can improve knowledge sharing and service delivery
  • Support attorneys in adopting practice technology solutions through proactive outreach and hands-on assistance
  • Serve as a resource for attorneys seeking AI solution support, assisting with tool selection and prompt design and refinement
  • Collaborate with the Practice Solutions and Applied Analytics teams to develop and deliver presentations and training programs on innovative and practical applications of AI and other practice technologies

Thought Leadership
  • Monitor and inform the group of key legal and market developments of interest to the practice group and its clients
  • Produce insightful analyses, benchmarking and market trend reports leveraging data from the Firm's experience management database for internal and external audiences

Client Development & Engagement
  • Assist attorneys and Client Development & Engagement in preparation of pitch-books and other relevant materials for business development and client engagement
  • Monitor and disseminate information relating to client preferences and compliance protocols, ensuring that client-specific information is communicated to attorneys in a timely manner

Training & Mentorship
  • Collaborate with practice group attorneys, the KM Counsel, and the Professional Development team to identify practice-related training needs and assist in the development of materials for group trainings and CLE programs
  • Provide associates with best practices guidance and assist them in locating and utilizing practice-related knowledge resources
  • Serve as a resource for legal, market, and practical expertise for all members of the practice group

Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other professional staff and departments of the Firm to ensure seamless support for the Real Estate practice group
  • Provide additional knowledge support to the practice group as assigned by the Practice Group Head, Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer, Director of KM, or KM Counsel, Real Estate

Education
Required
  • J.D. required

Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of three to five years of Real Estate practice experience in a large law firm
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legal practices and documents
  • Demonstrated interest in AI and legal technology
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Strong customer service and prompt response time to incoming requests
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to solve problems, both for technical issues and in situations involving collaboration with attorneys and non-legal staff/departments
  • Demonstrated good business judgment and analytical skills

Salary Information
NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
