Job description

The Department of Public Works is looking for an Executive Assistant, part-time or full-time up to 40 hours per week. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Executive Assistant's primary responsibility is to manage the Director's office by performing a variety of administrative and secretarial tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The Executive Assistant exhibits a professional demeanor in all interactions, safeguards confidential information and exercises independent judgment.
Responsibilities include calendar management, meeting coordination and minutes, customer service, document management related to contracts, department files, and other records, and correspondence and communications including updating the Department's website.
The Executive Assistant also provides support for department time tracking and processing, maintaining employee records, and processing workers' compensation and other insurance claims. The work requires thorough knowledge of Departmental activities, policies, practices, and procedures.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Three to five years of experience as an executive assistant, or equivalent position. Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize workflow. Demonstrated ability to do accurate and detailed work. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively and tactfully with the public, co-workers, other employees, officials, and other agencies. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point).
Anticipated hiring range is $35.50 - $40.65, full salary range is $35.50- $47.84, depending on qualifications with excellent benefits (health insurance, vacation, sick time, retirement plan).
