Job description

The Insights discipline helps empower Rioters' decision-making to be more data-informed. We're an interdisciplinary group of scientists, strategists, and analysts from a wide range of backgrounds who come together to represent and advocate for players around the world. We believe that understanding the diverse experiences, behaviors, and needs of players is essential to Riot living up to our player-focused mission. We're united by our love of games, learning, and helping teams make better decisions for players.

Within VALORANT, Insights partners closely with teams across the game and broader ecosystem to better understand how players experience VALORANT across gameplay, competitive play, community, events, creators, and other player touchpoints. Our work helps teams evaluate ecosystem health, uncover opportunities, and make more informed decisions that improve player experiences across one of the world's largest live service games. As an Insights Analyst on the VALORANT team, you will help teams better understand player engagement, behaviors, and ecosystem trends through data, reporting, experimentation, and exploratory analysis. You will work closely with senior analysts and cross-functional partners to support projects that inform player-focused decisions across the VALORANT ecosystem. This role is a strong opportunity for analytically-minded candidates who are passionate about competitive games and excited to apply their skills to deeply player-focused problems in gaming.

Responsibilities:
  • Support analyses that help teams better understand player behavior, motivations, sentiment, and engagement patterns across gameplay, community, creator, and live event experiences
  • Contribute to retrospectives and ecosystem readouts around major launches, esports moments, seasonal beats, and player-facing initiatives
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and recurring analyses that help teams monitor player engagement, ecosystem health, and product performance across VALORANT experiences
  • Pull, clean, validate, and organize large datasets using SQL and data visualization tools
  • Partner with senior analysts and cross-functional teammates to support experimentation analysis, reporting, and other insight-generation efforts
  • Help identify meaningful ecosystem trends, player pain points, and emerging opportunities through exploratory analysis and reporting
  • Help communicate analytical findings and recommendations to audiences with a range of technical proficiencies
  • Contribute to improving analytics workflows, reporting processes, and data quality practices across the team, including experimentation with emerging AI-enabled analytical tools and workflows
  • Collaborate with teammates across Insights, product, publishing, and esports-adjacent functions to support player-focused decision-making
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in analytics, management consulting, business intelligence, strategy, or related fields
  • Working knowledge of SQL and experience working with large datasets
  • Experience building dashboards or reports using tools such as Tableau, Hex, Looker, or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional environments
  • Familiarity with basic experimentation and performance measurement concepts
Desired Qualifications:
  • Deep familiarity with VALORANT and tactical shooter player culture
  • Active engagement with competitive gaming communities, creators, esports, or live service game ecosystems
  • Strong curiosity about how players engage with games across gameplay, social, community, and live event experiences
  • Experience with Python, R, or other analytical programming languages
  • Experience working in gaming, entertainment, technology, or consumer-focused industries
  • Adaptability and comfort working in fast-moving and evolving environments

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.

At Riot Games, we put players first. That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you're working directly on a new player-facing experience or you're supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we're better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we're looking forward to your application.
