Job description

Position Overview

The Healthcare Operations Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of admissions, discharge, transfer, eligibility, and authorization processes across multiple service lines. This role works closely with operational teams to support timely authorizations, ensure accurate documentation, and help drive clean claims and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while managing multiple priorities.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Authorization Support
  • Manage pending admissions, new admissions, and outstanding items.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and authorizations and identify potential issues impacting operations and reimbursement.
  • Maintain authorization updates across multiple service lines.
  • Create accurate and timely documentation for authorization and operational processes.
  • Manage room and board agreements.
  • Review weekly Revenue Cycle reports and address identified concerns.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and provide recommendations for issue resolution.
  • Consolidate issue logs and communicate high-impact concerns to leadership.
Team Coordination & Process Management
  • Follow documentation standards established by leadership and support implementation of process improvements.
  • Review operational playbooks and documented procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Train and onboard new employees on internal and external systems.
  • Assign work and delegate tasks based on operational priorities and reporting data.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and manage PTO requests and team calendars.
  • Prioritize and triage service desk tickets, operational issues, and special projects.
  • Develop and present topics during monthly team meetings.
  • Prepare objective documentation to support quarterly and annual employee evaluations.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred
  • Some college coursework and/or relevant work experience.
  • Healthcare administration, insurance verification, authorization, admissions, or revenue cycle experience.
  • Experience with conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of government and commercial payer requirements.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.

This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.34 - $24.34/hr.
