Job Overview

The Vice President, Health Services Operations is a senior executive responsible for leading the operations of one of the largest community health medical groups in the United States. As a member of AltaMed's Health Services Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President provides strategic and operational leadership across the medical group to ensure exceptional clinical operations, outstanding patient experiences, operational excellence, and sustainable organizational growth.

Working in close partnership with the Chief Operations Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Vice President of Medical Group (Physician Executive) - Health Services, Vice President, Nursing Services, physician leaders, and executive leadership, this role develops and executes enterprise-wide operational strategies that align with AltaMed's mission, strategic priorities, and long-term vision.

The Vice President is responsible for driving organizational performance across multiple service lines and clinical operations while advancing AltaMed's core strategic initiatives, including:

  • Building and sustaining a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Strengthening employee, provider, and physician engagement to create exceptional teams and improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Improving quality, safety, and clinical outcomes through standardized operational excellence and evidence-based practices.

  • Elevating patient satisfaction and the overall patient experience by improving access, service, and care delivery.

  • Accelerating AltaMed's transition to value-based care through operational innovation, population health strategies, and performance management.

  • Supporting responsible financial stewardship while improving efficiency, access, and affordability across the care delivery system.

The Vice President serves as the operational leader responsible for translating enterprise strategy into measurable results across AltaMed's care network. This executive will lead large, multidisciplinary operational teams while partnering closely with physician and nurse leadership to optimize clinical performance, patient outcomes, workforce engagement, and operational execution.

Executive Leadership

  • Lead strategic and operational planning for AltaMed's Health Services Operations across one of the nation's largest community health medical groups.

  • Serve as a member of the Health Services Executive Leadership Team, contributing to enterprise strategy, organizational growth, and system-wide operational performance.

  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support AltaMed's mission, vision, culture, and long-term strategic objectives.

  • Foster an inclusive, mission-driven culture that emphasizes accountability, innovation, collaboration, and service excellence.

Operational Excellence

  • Direct enterprise-wide operational performance across clinical operations and ambulatory services.

  • Establish standardized operational practices, performance metrics, and accountability systems that improve consistency, efficiency, and quality.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance patient flow, access, capacity management, operational effectiveness, and resource utilization.

  • Evaluate operational performance using data and analytics to drive measurable improvements across quality, financial performance, and patient outcomes.

Quality, Patient Experience & Value-Based Care

  • Champion enterprise initiatives that improve quality performance, patient safety, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.

  • Partner with physician and clinical leadership to reduce practice variation and implement evidence-based operational best practices.

  • Advance AltaMed's population health and value-based care strategies by improving operational integration, care coordination, and performance against payer and regulatory measures.

  • Ensure operational readiness and excellence for accreditation, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.

Leadership & Partnership

  • Serve as the operational triad partner to the Vice President, Medical Group - Health Services (Physician Executive) and Vice President, Nursing Services to ensure alignment between clinical and operational priorities.

  • Collaborate with executive leadership, regional operations, Health Plans, MSO partners, and external stakeholders to improve care delivery across the continuum.

  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing operational leaders while strengthening organizational capability and succession planning.

  • Lead large, cross-functional teams through organizational growth, transformation, and change management initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing (RN), Social Work, Health Administration, or a related field required.

  • Healthcare Leadership Experience. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration or a closely related healthcare setting, including at least 5 years in an enterprise-wide or functional leadership role with direct responsibility for strategic decision-making.

  • Operational and Management Expertise. Demonstrated track record managing financial operations, program development, personnel, operational oversight, and quality management in a healthcare environment.

Compensation

$222,144.00 - $277,680.00 annually
