Healthcare Financial Controller

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid โ€“ Remote 2 Days per Week)

Salary: $120,000 โ€“ $150,000

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Healthcare Financial Controller to join its growing leadership team in Plano, TX. This highly visible role will oversee the organization's financial reporting function, month-end close process, board reporting, and financial analysis while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial information across a multi-entity healthcare organization.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Healthcare Financial Controller will provide strategic financial insight, strengthen internal controls, support audit and lender compliance, and partner closely with operational leaders to drive informed business decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process, ensuring accurate and timely GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and financial statement review.
  • Prepare executive and board-level reporting packages, including detailed Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), KPI dashboards, and financial performance presentations.
  • Partner with operational and executive leadership to analyze financial results, identify trends, explain key business drivers, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Manage debt covenant compliance, lender reporting requirements, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity analysis.
  • Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Oversee consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities while maintaining strong internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Develop financial models and perform ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes, automate workflows, and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Mentor and collaborate with accounting and finance team members while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, with healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience within hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC), physician practice management, or multi-entity healthcare organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting.
  • Experience preparing board presentations, executive reporting packages, and supporting annual audits.
  • Working knowledge of debt covenants, lender reporting, and financial compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and Power Query.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or another multi-entity ERP system.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial information to executive leadership and non-financial stakeholders.
