Job Description

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Health Sciences in Healthcare Administration (HCAD) to begin as early as Fall 2027. This is a 9-month academic appointment with a possible summer appointment and will be located at the Corpus Christi campus. Faculty members are required to be physically on campus as needed to contribute to academic mission of the College and University.

Job Description

We are seeking candidates with expertise in healthcare administration who demonstrate teaching and/or research expertise across multiple areas relevant to the program, including healthcare information systems, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in healthcare, project management, health law, and health services research.

Tenure-track faculty are expected to teach students, pursue a robust program of research, seek external funding, and disseminate research findings. Faculty are expected to model exemplary professional behavior through work with students, peers, administration, and community colleagues and to provide student support including mentoring, advising, recruiting, and HCAD student project supervision. Teaching responsibilities ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, program outcomes and current teaching, experiential, and applied learning best practices. All faculty are expected to maintain content expertise, and to participate in college, university and professional service activities. Active participation in College and University committees and activities is required.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Healthcare Administration courses and, as appropriate, contribute to graduate-level teaching within the College. The faculty member will develop and maintain an active program of scholarship, with scholarly work disseminated through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other appropriate venues.

The successful candidate will foster relationships with healthcare organizations and community partners, support the development of internships and other experiential learning opportunities, contribute to program assessment and continuous improvement, and participate in activities that advance the goals of CONHS and TAMU-CC.

Required Qualifications

  • A PhD in Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, or a closely related field relevant to healthcare administration. While advanced ABD will be considered, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

  • Evidence of scholarly activity commensurate with the tenure track expectations of the College and University.

  • Demonstrated capacity to teach undergraduate courses in Healthcare Administration across multiple content areas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience at the baccalaureate and/or graduate level.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across disciplines and with healthcare organizations and community partners.

  • Evidence of an active or developing program of research, including peer- reviewed scholarly publications and potential for external funding.

  • Experience developing and teaching high-quality online courses.

  • Teaching, research, and/or professional experience across one or more areas of healthcare administration, including healthcare information systems, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in healthcare, project management, health law, and health services research.

  • Experience supporting student experiential learning through internships, applied projects, or partnerships with healthcare organizations.
