Job description

AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts).
Faculty Responsibilities Include:
  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedules
  • Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking
  • Providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion content
  • Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student work
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty member
  • Maintaining accurate academic records
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Educational Credentials:
  • Graduate Student in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related fields.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or a related field. 

Preferred 
  • Terminal Degree, Finance, Business Accounting or a related field. 
  • Certified Financial Planner.certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). 
  • Understand the unique financial challenges faced by artists. 
  • Experience in financial planning, investment management, or accounting, preferably with a focus on individuals with irregular income streams, freelancers, or entrepreneurs.
  • Demonstrated success teaching at the college level.
  • Recent experience in a higher education setting.
  • Candidates with teaching experience and expertise in an additional area are highly desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in using instructional technology.

Required Professional Expertise:
  •  A minimum of  6 months to 1 year teaching in the related field Finance, in a post-secondary setting 
  • Experience in financial planning, investment management, or accounting, preferably with a focus on individuals with irregular income streams, freelancers, or entrepreneurs.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable field
  • Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning
  • Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists,in an synchronous online environment and through the LMS.
  • Active scholarship in related field

Position Information:

    • Salary Range: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour for classroom teaching
      For administrative and tasks assigned or volunteered outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard rate of $35.00 per hour.
