Job Summary:
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a Genetec System Administrator to manage and maintain their Genetec Security System infrastructure. The role involves planning, designing, and supporting Genetec servers and storage while collaborating with various teams to ensure system performance and security.
Responsibilities:
โข Plan, design, install, configure, secure, maintain, and support all Genetec servers and storage infrastructure
โข Architect and design the enterprise federated Genetec security system for multiple sites
โข Implement and manage Genetec occupancy management system for capacity tracking and monitoring
โข Analyze and monitor server resources utilization to ensure optimum server/storage performance by alleviating the bottlenecks
โข Set up the highest level of redundancy using SQL mirroring, fail-over directory features, archive transfers, and automate database backups
โข Arrange Genetec recording schedules with various resolutions to maintain video data quality without sacrificing valuable resources
โข Manage Genetec user accounts, privileges and permissions, and roles with redundancy
โข Assemble and configure automated monitoring stations
โข Put together on demand and scheduled reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
โข Maintain activity and audit log repository to generate usage and audit reports
โข Work with maps and mobile features in Genetec and construct watermark and encryption add-ons
โข Develop, validate, and implement an overall strategy for system upgrades and patching Genetec servers, including security updates on a regular schedule
โข Create, test, implement, and maintain a standard image for Genetec client installation for desktops
โข Ensure that all changes to the environment adhere to established Change Management policies and procedures
โข Work closely with various teams such as the infrastructure team, technical support, database administrators, system administrators, facilities, and program areas to resolve Genetec system issues
โข Evaluate new security systems requirements for Genetec solutions
โข Produce and maintain Genetec server and storage architecture diagrams using MS Visio
โข Lead and develop comprehensive project plans for Genetec security projects
โข Evaluate and recommend Genetec technology solutions to support business needs
โข Put up and monitor system alerts using the built-in Genetec features to provide 24x7 support and high availability
โข Liaise with vendors to troubleshoot technical issues
โข Follow the communication protocol for system failures/outages and file incident reports
โข Escalate major hardware/software problems to senior IT staff
โข Respond to Service Desk tickets related to the Genetec environment
โข Prepare system configurations and management/support documentation and provide training and knowledge transfer to other team members as needed
โข Maintain inventory of Genetec infrastructure - hardware and software assets
โข Available for on-call duty as needed
โข Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
โข May be required to work mandatory overtime
Qualifications:
Required:
โข Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled.
โข A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network planning, design, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
โข A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in '1' above; or
โข A masters degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in '1' above.

โข Working knowledge of Genetec Security Center
โข Working experience with Genetec Security Center โ Omnicast and Synergis version 5.9 and above Microsoft Windows Server 2019, MS SQL 2019, VMWare ESX, Windows 10, Visio, SharePoint, MS Project, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLAN, Powershell scripting
โข Experience with Genetec Streamvault appliances and federation architecture. Genetec - Access Control Rules Watermark and encryption add-ons Genetec database backups, client installs and upgrade rollouts maps and mobile features in Genetec
โข Experience with Genetec Clearance digital evidence management system
โข Understanding of Genetec high availability features like role failover (archiver and directory)
โข In-depth knowledge in Genetec recording schedules with various resolutions to maintain video data quality without sacrificing valuable resources
โข Background in configuration of scheduled tasks in Genetec to auto generate reporting emails on daily, weekly, and monthly basis
โข Working knowledge of remote desktop access software preferably Bomgar to troubleshoot issues remotely
โข Proficient in managing both domain-based and standalone system environments, ensuring optimal configuration, security, and performance
โข Validate the configurations done by security vendor to confirm that it complies with the standards
โข Hands-on experience building and deploying Windows servers on Dell and HPE hardware, including configuring iDRAC and iLO interfaces, setting up RAID arrays, and performing firmware and BIOS updates
โข Skilled in using recovery tools to troubleshoot and repair startup issues on both servers and desktops, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity
โข Adept at diagnosing and resolving complex software and hardware issues on Windows-based systems, providing timely support and maintaining system reliability
โข Experience with installing patches for Genetec, windows and cameras
โข Strong experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IP camera systems, with a preference for Axis cameras, ensuring reliable surveillance performance
โข Proficient in using Axis Device Manager for streamlined camera configuration, firmware updates, and system monitoring
โข Able to multitask and perform in a high-paced/high-pressure environment
โข Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
